Evan huffed as he strolled along the shoreline of Cinnabar Island, his ear flicking in annoyance. ‘Of course he’d leave me to walk home on my own,’ he thought to himself, displeased with his trainer. The sun had long since set, and there wasn’t a soul in sight. ‘God, this place can get creepy when it’s dark… At least it doesn’t take long to get anywhere.’ Evan let out a sigh of relief once his trainer’s house came into view, then froze in his tracks.
The atmosphere had shifted as well, a sense of dread and sinister intent hanging thick in the air, making Evan’s fur stand on end. A sound of static filled his ears, with a brilliant white light shining from behind him. Every instinct in his body screamed for him to run, but it was as if he had been locked in place. All Evan could do was slowly turn his head to gaze behind him, eyes widening in shock and fear as a figure filled his vision.
The Eevee’s mind had difficulty processing what he was witnessing. Whatever it was, it held a rectangular shape, though it was like someone had removed one fourth of the shape. However, the thing didn’t seem to be made of any material in particular. Instead, lines of static and code flickered along its body, as if the object was an embodiment of glitches itself. Evan’s thoughts are interrupted as his gaze falls upon his tail, which was being yanked into this thing.
“Wait, no!” Evan cried out, digging his paws into the ground as his body was pulled closer towards the entity. Despite his best efforts, the Eevee finds his hind legs and haunches vanishing through the surface of the block. It’s only then that he realizes a startling fact. ‘I can’t feel my tail anymore!’ His claws scrape uselessly along the ground as he glances around the dark island, hopeful to locate some form of rescue. “Help!” Evan pleaded, his chest and fur ruff sinking into what must be solid code. “Please, some-!” He never got to finish as his face is tugged from view, the last of the Eevee now sealed inside.
The Missingno hummed happily as its form flickers once more before blinking out of existence, taking Evan with it. The trainer returned to his home later that night, only to find that his Eevee had gone missing. The next few days had been spent scouring the entire island, every nook and cranny examined before the trainer finally gave up. The only sign of Evan that was ever found were some loose strands of fur next to two claw marks that skidded across the shore, only to vanish into thin air.
