Kollo seems to have done the impossible and gain some reluctant acceptance from society, but in doing so has flung himself into politics in a big way.
Welcome back all who have been reading each instalment and welcome everyone who is trying to start here. This chapter is the longest, but probably has the most 'non-vore' discussion. There's some good stuff amongst the high minded political talk, but I always tend to get wrapped up in story during these longer entries into my portfolio.
I am also giving warning that this may be the last of this story arc for an undetermined amount of time. I'd like to refocus on and possibly finish The Quest of enlightenment, then I could return to this. I'm also still eyeing another project I want to finish before I keep writing this newest unfinished story, so... Kollo may be on ice for a bit.
That being said, I'm not always truthful with all of you or myself, so the urge to continue the Slime rampage may strike harder than I'd like and you'll all get another instalment before I finish the other things that I want to do. My muse is a fickle and unpredictable demon.

Another fantastic installment. I get the feeling that Abria is going to be a blast and a huge boon to Kollo. Sister Brena may need some of the... "attention" he showed Abria to get her attitude together but I doubt it'll come to that. "God" will set her straight. *nodnods*
Blah, blah, blah, politics, blah blah, douchey grease ball, blah, blah. Kinda not liking the king so far either. Only levying fines on outright illegal acts just made him sound greedy. Deposing their lordship would be a more fitting judgement for openly defying the law the king set forth... but then again, I'm not royalty... and would probably be a tyrant if I were. :V
Kollo has managed to wrangle some choice meats for "tasting". Happy slime is happy. :D

He'd be a lot happier if he didn't have to work so damn hard to keep his pets to himself!
The King is fairly level headed, as much as a King of such a large and unwieldy kingdom can be. Basically, which is easier, policing and enforcing all laws to the fullest extent, or selectively coming down on outlying offenders with stiff legal fees that actually hurts nobles in their wallet? If he fines someone too heavily, their entire house will feel it, which is a much stronger impact than just locking up individuals. Lordships go to individuals, but often they represent Noble houses and dynasties or clans. That isn't obvious in the story because the notable Lords so far have been fairly individualistic, but Drek is a good example of that. The magic guilds of the High Garden basically just chose him as a rep to send to the meetings, since they collectively run that part of the city.
As for his treatment of his daughter, well, there is a limit to fatherly love when it comes to a monster trying to kill you on the regular.
Abria will definitely take a larger roll in the next chapter, and Brena, well...she'll get sorted out I imagine. Kollo doesn't care about his report card to the church, but he's not a fan of his pets being difficult.

I found the politics quite interesting and reasonable.

This is another great chapter! The added pets, the political intrigue, the Princess! Love it all.
Completely understand switching gears. Pretty sure that this story wasn't intended to go for as long as it already has. I love your other work as well but I can't wait until you return to this!

I've been pondering a way to bring back the series. Yes for now, but I've not forgotten it.

Finally caught up. Very interesting piece. Feels like you're building up more and more of a real plot.
I do find it odd that news is apparently so developed in this medieval society though.
I admit to having mixed feelings on the reporter. I kind of hope she doesn't give in, or buys a revival like Lavona talked about in the first chapter or two.
Abria is very interesting as well, though she would have been more helpful left at the base camp protecting that considering with Kollo leaving it monsters might attack it from other directions.
It's interesting how Kollo is pretty callous here. Considering he cares so much about Lavona in the past. Hopefully he can get some moments to show how soft and caring he can be towards her still, to show that he still does feel that way towards her, even if he's callous towards others.
Sia seems to have entirely vanished in this chapter, and largely so in the previous as well. Some of the attacks by normal humans she could have had a chance to shine against in devouring some of them.
Kollo also needs to explore if he can compress his mass down like he thought he could. Since if he's going to eat potentially thousands of ant-men then he's going to have a bunch of mass he'd otherwise have to waste.

I always slide into plot when I write. I can't help it.
It's not as medieval as most fantasy settings. It's actually fairly modernized, just uaing a mix of alchemy, magic, and basic technology. Thwy have street lights, running water, indoor plumbing, distance communication, mass media. I sort of imagiine it as 1950s new york, only fantasy-ized.
We'll see. As coocoo as Michelle is she's probably more interested in seeing what Kollo will do in the future. He's also not her kind of predator. She want a big cruel dragon or beasty to shatter buildings and scoop her out of her office and gulp her down with a laugh or a jeer and then forget about her. Kollo is too polite and attentive.
Abria is a lot different from the others, not including her physiology. She is being forced onto Kollo, and she doesn't have the option to leave. He had to make sure she behaves or else she was going to cause him more problems. He'll show her some proper attention if she's a good pet.
The 'base camp' is fine. A pair of women are susceptible to monster attack. A hundred much less so. They also have Helena and other combat capable women with them, so the minor monsters Kollo missed won't be as much of a nuisance as before.
Sia will return to the spotlight soon. She's naturally chaotic, so it is difficult to miss her.
Kollo is definately still learning things about himself. His self discovery takes a back seat to ensuring the continued safety of his pets though.

This is the story that got me hooked on your writing, and has kept me coming back even as my interest in vore has declined. I'm very much enjoying ALA while this is on hiatus, though.
If and when we get another installment, I wonder if Kislo might learn to sacrifice excess mass to create food for his pets. Nutritious secretions may be more feminine, but there's no reason the "milk" would have to come from his chest...
