I... I liked the story, but... wasn't it a thing that when the rider dies the dragon does too?
Or was that only the (meh grade) movie? Its been a while since i read the books

Nope, in some cases some dragons choose to die after their rider does. Though the books clearly state that when one dies the other can survive and live. Plus in this story Rhunon becomes Saphira's dragon rider in his place, so Saphira doesn't suffer from Eragon's passing.
