Well the Earth is usually referred to as Mother Earth or Gaia( who is the greek goddess of the Earth), so you could consider the Earth female. Or Sam could just eat Gaia- both are fine by me :P

I think once you get to that scale of nomming, it's a lot less fun/intimate. And Sam seems like the kind of gal that enjoys interacting with people she absorbs. Not just washing over them as some generic end of the world, slime monster.
