A little bit inspired by a minor character from Arta_Shrike’s Bunnies in a Lion’s Den story. This is the first Avian pred I’ve done but I really love the idea of them being able to swoop down on their dinner and carry the protesting morsel to a high up place where escape is pretty much impossible.
Poor little bunny, caught between a beak and a very long drop. Fortunately for him, he doesn’t need to choose which one will get him. The hawk’s firm grip makes it clear that he will soon be joining the predatory bird’s ornament collection.

Everything about this situation is just delightful to me. Avian pred? Check. Trapped prey? Check. Prey having a 'choice'? check. Trophies? Check. I could go on and on...

Thanks. I may have to do some more avians soon. I could definitely use some more practice with feathers.

I admired this piece for a while before glancing down and seeing my name! Ha! Glad to be an inspiration!
There’s some strange switch in my mind where, when something’s too cruel, I really dislike it, but if it hits just the right amount, my enjoyment shoots up, and I think this hits the later category for me. I also love the idea of swooping predators carrying their prey home to enjoy. And artistically, I think you did a really good job with the hawk’s head, beak, and especially the eye.
Stray thought: I wonder if Mr. Hawk here keeps his skulls tued down, or if on a breezy day they fall to the earth, to the shock of pedestrians below...

Yeah, he probably has to move the leftovers away from the ledge when its windy. It would be pretty inconsiderate to others to risk letting them fall. I’m also really glad that you liked the way the hawk’s head came out as it was one of the trickier parts. I didn’t want him to come out looking too cruel or aggressive, but hawks have such an intense expression it was hard to avoid.
Finally, yeah, the picture was heavily inspired by thinking about what would have happened if Sigmund had not been there. I guess this poor bunny didn’t have a lion to protect him.

That's a fair point. This is more of a "choose your method of death" situation.
Not that he really HAS a choice.

Yeah, whatever he does he’s pretty much certain to end up like the hawk’s previous guests soon. Poor bunny can’t even put up much of a fight before his trip down the hawk’s gullet. Its hard to struggle effectively when the other person’s grip on you is the only thing keeping you from falling.
