Max and Rust have been having a freeing and satisfying couple of weeks enjoying their newfound partnership, but now a circumstance has given Max an opportunity to show how much he really trusts the dragon. How much restraint will Rust show in return?
Direct followup to the two previous stories in the "Rusted" series. I know it's been a little while since my last one and I figured I kept you guys waiting long enough. Plus I had to do something for my first Vore Day as an author. *looks at clock* Well, it's still 8/8 somewhere I guess.
...Wait, did that kid and his dad at the end seem familiar? Yes, it's coming...

Good chapter, though hard to believe something like a sharp edged 'badge' could give the dragon such a severe problem. You might consider changing this to a steel breastplate. These are sometimes worn underneath clothing by non-soldiers to protects themselves from being stabbed. Since the dragon swallows people clothing and all, the hidden breastplate could have been swallowed accidentally, and with its sharp edges, could get stuck in his throat while being regurgitated since he couldn't digest it. I am a bit disappointed with the introduction of so-called 'dragon hunters' to the story, particularly so in the form of merely 'a kid and his dad'. Let's see... huge scale armored dragon large enough to swallow adult humans whole, and with the intelligence of humans even if it doesn't actually speak. I hope the truth of the matter is that they are simply 'wannabe dragon hunters' who have never seen a real dragon up close and have no idea how deadly it would really be against regular people with medieval tech weaponry.... or does the father have a (sigh)"magic" sword?

I can see how that would be a bit of a stretch. I thought of it as more of an unfortunate accident rather then what the normal outcome might be; like it just happened to catch and get stuck.
I can totally understand your scepticisum at the “hunters” too. They’re actually a reference to my other series “My Little Snack”, specifically #3. Even the badge made of “strange metal” is a reference to those stories. If you read it, I think you’ll find your assumption of the hunters to be well justified. The fact that that “one of the best” line is coming from the man’s son means it can definitely be taken with a grain of salt.
And no, no magic swords here lol

I believe that in a realistic world of enormous intelligent dragons vs. people with Medieval level technology there would be no such thing as 'dragon hunters' because if you just slightly wounded instead of killing one (which would be very hard to do), its retaliation on the local human population could be so severe it would result in the deaths of hundreds, even thousands of people. One angry dragon could burn enough crops and kill enough livestock to cause a famine, with virtually no risk to itself. Towns and villages would likely hang anyone who simply claimed to be a dragon hunter just to prevent the risk of angering a creature capable of destroying their settlements, crops, and livestock with almost total impunity.

That is one way to look at it, but there are a few other factors to consider.
The big one in my head is numbers. With dragons normally living alone or in small groups, a large group of humans actually pose more of a threat than you might think, especially when you factor tools into the mix. Dragons have what comes naturally but humans can make some seriously heavy duty weapons when pushed. Even projectiles.
As for retaliation from dragons, a human would have to do some substatial harm in the first place. To a prideful dragon, having to torch a town might be considered a petty waste of time unless it was really warranted. And while the dragon might be relitivly safe from the flames, remember the dragon still has to live in the area, and burning everything down is a surefire way to drive all the nearby prey far away.
But the real balance might actually be in their lack of communication. With dragons only hearing rumors of potential human weapons and humans only hearing tales of dragons burning down towns, they might both be too cautious around each other to risk a conflict.
Faced with such a danger though, I would expect there to be at least a few from either side that was determined to fight specifically because of the risk, to keep their people safe despite the odds. Whether from bravery of stupidity. Since they’re not constantly in contact, each can forget how truly dangerous the othe can be.
Wow, that was long.

This is a nice chapter. I can’t wait to see where you take the story from here.
