By the time anyone wanted to study her she weighed thousand of tons and was hard to examine. Everyone who met her while she was smaller suffered a bad case of being digested and wasn't in any shape to ask questions.

Create the world's largest X-Ray machine (or drones that can do an X-Ray map from the outside) and politely ask her if they can use it/them on her. However it is they would go about doing that.
