"Chess... I had it described to me as 'The King's Game' by that arrogant squirrel in that city park. That conjured to mind many things, namely how city dwellers assign the name 'King' to things which have done nothing to earn that right. The lion is 'King of the jungle', steak is the 'King of the grill', I see signs littering the streets talking of the 'King of Soul Music' or 'Royal Barber Shops', it's come to my mind that people living in civilization have no concept of what a king truly is. A king is powerful, a king is elegant, there is not a thing a king is not master of. People here forget that and assign kingship to the mundane, but it's not a lesson I have forgotten, and as for the 'King's Game' I have no interest. Thinking 5 moves ahead is precisely what I did before I sat down to hear the explanation, except I was not interested in winning the king's game, I was interested in lunch. All hail King Amaranth! Lord of Lunch!"

Amaranth is really quite smart and intuitive, but a game with a lot of rules predicated on memorizing board positions and piece placements is beneath her. She plays her opponents and thinks many steps ahead of the curve every time she eats, so what does Chess offer her that meal time doesn't, aside from an emptier belly? More experiments with cell shading too. I think it's looking better and better every time I do it!
