Mariam pursues the kidnappers across the land. On her way, she learns more about the current events of Skyvale, and also discovers a more horrifying truth about those she pursues. They soon reach a new island, and there, Mariam receives some unexpected aid to help her reach the final confrontation.

What I liked the most here was seeing the armored men from Mariam's point of view who had never seen anything like that before. It is always interesting seeing the description of something which for us are familiar and well known, from the view of someone who have no idea of what it is.
But what is it with bad guys, why do they always have to justify their obvious actions? (The frogmen)

I'm glad you enjoyed the perspective descriptions ^^
I'm not fond of characters who are evil for the sake of being evil, since in the real world, many evil people do not see themselves as evil, as they may have a skewed moral system or a bad upbringing. Other villains, such as the frogmen, do understand that the actions they are committing are evil, but they either justify it by the belief that the ends will justify the means, or they simply don't care as these acts of cruelty will benefit them more efficiently than acts of kindness.
Well that answer got a bit longer than I intended, sorry.
