Mer"May" By ZeldaNoVorsu -- Report

Whew, this is probably my most ambitious project ever!!! I've done pixel art before, but I've never tried creating an animation out of it! It's still May, so I figure I could cash in on the Mer"May" pun with the Mermaid from Link's Awakening. I could have just written a story and been done with it, but instead I decided to take the Mermaid's sprite from the original (along with Link's) and make it look more like the remakes. Then, I made a whole vore sequence out of it! For my first time, I'm quite pleased with how it came out. The premise is rather simple, but it's based on a bit of regional changing they did back in the day for the original game. In the NA version, you find the Mermaid's necklace, just like you do in the remake regardless of region, but in the original non-NA versions, you found her bikini top instead. Obviously, they changed it because they realized this would happen (and not because American's are weak and can't handle the idea of lost swimwear). Enjoy!

She's probably noticed you watching her dispose of her last meal and deciding you to be perverted enough to be her next.

I enjoyed seeing it come together piece by piece.

AMAZING! I hope you do one with Marin or other Sprited games, either way this is brilliant. Can we also have the single images btw?

ZeldaNoVorsu

Thanks! I might consider doing more sprite animations in the future. It is a bit more work than writing, but it is fun to do. As for the single images, there are 84 individual images that went into making this, so posting them all here is not really an option. I have thought of compiling into a comic of sorts so it's easier to read.

I was thinking about a the singles in a Dropbox? Anyway maybe you could do the Oracle games? Nayru or Din maybe? Or you could continue with Awakening and go Marin. Looking forward to see more!

Well, I see this is what you've been working on! This is pretty good, great job animating the farts mid-dialogue. It does look a bit different than the background, but it's fine. You could definitely use a bit of this for my project... which I'm getting close to a public alpha soon, maybe by next week or earlier.

ZeldaNoVorsu

Posted by ZeldaNoVorsu 4 years ago Report

Oh yeah, this was an endeavor for sure. The farts probably came out the best because her tail was naturally posable with them. I ripped the background straight from the overworld sprite, but I modified the Mermaid sprite. I considered giving her much thicker borders to match, but I decided it was okay if she stood out a little. Part of the problem is that the old art style is very blocky, so getting things like curves for a belly are difficult. With your project, it's more of a modern art style with more colors and finer details, so it will be easier to stick to the source style. Looking forward to that alpha though.

Yeah, the finer details can be a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it does look good enough that I'd be fine reusing it for sequels, but on the other hand I've spent the last 20 minutes working on Koopa sprites. (Seriously Nintendo, why does it have to be so complicated...)

Did Super Princess Peach not have Koopas, or are there not sprites available for them?

derpsquid42

No, it has koopas. It's just that the sprites for them are super complex, with a large range of colors. It's a bit hard to explain, and I just want to go to sleep. I'll PM you a screenshot tomorrow.

not bad at all... Text moves a bit fast at a couple points but otherwise great

ZeldaNoVorsu

Getting a feel for the timing was probably the hardest part, but it got to a point where it was good enough that I wanted to share it rather be a perfectionist.

timing is always the hard part... And good on you for not cheating and using the "next dialogue" button

ZeldaNoVorsu

I thought of doing something like that, however, I probably would have had to make a flash animation then, which is being phased out of support. I'd rather we have something we can all easily enjoy, even if the timing is a little off.
