In the film adaptation of At The Earth's core, the mahars sure seem to gobble up those sacrificial slavegirls AWFULLY quick, didn't they? I think we can draw our own conclusions as to how that went down.

Yeah, this is a really old WIP I decided I'm probably not going to finish. But I also don't wanna trash it, so I guess we'll consider it a scrap? May redo it later. My boyfriend had a really fun fan-design for the mahars that I might wanna play with.

Small-ish, flying lizard is an underused concept I’d say. Big ol’ belly with those flappy wings~

Yeah, I kinda threw off the scale a bit. Novel mahars are supposed to be 6-8 feet tall, but these ones seem closer to the five-footers from the movie.

Idk, maybe they each had second helpings.

I think it works well either way; it gives a bit more emphasis towards the bulk of them settling in this way ‘round. Would love to see more of ‘em!

I remember in the movie, the main hero and one of Pellucidar humans got into a tussle, which almost got one of them eaten by these vine-entangling, venus flytrap looking things in a cave.

That plant was creepy AF, and I wound up designing something similar for Fronterra.

Though I think my FAVORITE monsters from the movie are those carnivorous brontothere-minotaur things.

That whole scene was creepy AF...and a reminder that NOWHERE is safe in Pellucidar.

Well, most of the monsters of that movie were kind of cheesy (we know they're guys in suits), and I don't know HOW closely the movie followed the Pellucidar books by E.R. Burroughs, but it was a decent adventure flick, if nothing else.

I never would’ve guessed this would be the next thing you posted XD you sure do know how to put a tummy on any monster.
These Mahars already seem to be a bit greedy, hopefully they don’t bite off more than they can chew >;3

Definitely love this one compared to the movie scene. Especially with some sacrificial maidens being swallowed, always a win in my books~

Human beings are mostly water. Their tissues and fluids retain flavors and other residues from their food. Their bones have a brittle quality. Their skin is warm and pliant. Thirst-quenching, well-seasoned, crunchy and yet chewy: People are the Elvis of snack food.

I actually was looking for the movie. It was devilishly hard to find! I like how your mahars look. Much more pterosaur-like than the film.
