I have some notes to offer you to help you decide if you want to invest your time reading this little 61K word novel. First, this was written as a story that contains vore, rather than a vore story. In other words, the setting is irrevocably one of prey and natural predators, very similar to the one you live in. It takes place in a time when their world is industrializing, and the ramifications of the increasing levels of order in the world are central to the plot. If you like the idea of sepia-toned anthropomorphic characters unraveling a political mystery centered around the railways, this may be your cup of tea.
Secondly, speaking of those anthropomorphic characters, two details regarding species:
In Europe, the term 'elk' is used to generally refer to both moose and elk species. Because this is taking place in an area analogous to eastern Canada, I'm using the American use of those terms. Kalay Patholder and his family resemble the now presumably extinct Eastern Elk of Earth.
Finally, the bachelor's companion is what is known as a fisher. No, she is not a person who uses a rod and tackle to snare fish, and such a thing doesn't work on their world anyway. Her kind resembles a species of large weasel found some of the colder boreal regions of North America.
Anyway, on with the damn show!

A young bachelor bargains for travel rights to study civilized predators. The deal is simple: investigate a mystery threatening the most important civic project in the region and he may conduct his research. He agrees and seeks the protection and guidance of a competent predator for hire. Will she agree to his terms?

I wonder what those predators thought when they saw Kalay peeking out of their neighbor's window.
As always, amazing work. Excited to read the rest!
