It is time for what we call a "Pro-Negotiator Move".

Let us tell the security guard, that Bright must call his mommy (or at least to write her a short message) to notify her that he is alright. Although it is a comically touching motive, it is also a very realistic one. This must drive the captors to allow Bright to use the phone (either his or one of their issued communicators, maybe providing a restricted Wi-Fi channel) so he could achieve the first goal. Then we shall see, what comes of it.
