Why not check both ways if there is time? Bright might take the left option and if he encounters something suspicious mid-way, he can always turn back if he has time, of course.

Also, it might be worth the effort to ask the guard "where would I exit in case I follow your instructions? Why should I not turn right? Why are the vents so broad?". Since she claims to be this kind-hearted, there is no harm just testing her a little bit when there is no threat, is there? :cat_face_with_wry_smile:
