Yes and no.

He doesn't take orders if he don't want to. And the people hiring him are usually feeling somewhat uneasy around him. But he does make great music (That is his main purpose after all) and that way earns money for the people hiring him.

So Beast get to do what he loves, and the people hiring him get the money.
