It seems the rest of the team ended up being totally superfluous; Toph managed to get the drop on all three Fire Benders and barring the sudden lack of mobility, she came out no worse for wear. I suppose the trio's engorged assets weighed them down enough for the Earth Bender to catch-she certainly heard the immense vibrations their portly frames gave off. Hopefully her soon-to-be enhanced physique won't cause any interference of it's own with all the jiggling...

I think that's a better ending for the three than the canon endings for the three~

Yeah, I could see that. Though Azula freaking out during that post-fight scene is still a really impressive bit of animation, I think.
