“That’s, uhh,” Tethys paused, still catching her breath. “That’s one way to say ‘good morning.’”

Val merely offered a self-satisfied hum as a single finger trailed up Tethys’s arm before tangling with a strand of dark brown hair.

They sat in silent contentment for a time, sharing in touch and warmth and companionship, alone in a world of ease and comfort, the muted sounds of early morning their only bridge to beyond.

Gods, she could lie there forever.

The ending to this was rather strange and unexpected. I didn't expect Isabel setting a trap. I kind of expected a bad end, but it felt likely to be Val eating Tethys. This ending instead leaves a lot kind of hanging as it's unclear what Tethys and Val are going to do now.
