Ostriches were odd birds, far from the most intelligent of their feathery ilk, though past experience had taught Fluttershy that the flightless avian’s responded well to kindness. Because of this, the sympathetic Pegasus had had no qualms about offering to care for the neglected animal now in her charge, as just like any of her other woodland friends the creature was in need of aid, and she was more than happy to help. The mare taking it slow at first, not wanting to startle the simple beast, as she knew it was critical to gain the trust of any creature under her care, and for such matters, she found an offering of food helped more than any other gesture.

The way to any downtrodden animal’s heart through its stomach, and unsurprisingly the abandoned ostrich seemingly happy to eat directly from her hoof, with only minimal goading. The sizable Struthio cautiously taking the fruits and berries the pegamare provided with plucking pecks, and by all intents it seemed like an aggressive eater, rapidly wolfing down anything provided with only a short stare to ensure what it was eating was safe for its normally omnivorous diet. The Pegasus forgiving of this scepticism, as just from the eccentric animal’s mannerisms it was obvious to her the gentle beast had been mistreated by its previous owners.

The mare blissfully unaware of the looming threat squawking before her, and it was not until the hungry ostrich lunged at the Pegasus, did she realize the true peril of her predicament, and by then it was already too late to stop the consumptive charge. Fluttershy taken off guard, as her most recent attempt to feed the bird resulted in its open beak thrust down over her head with an unexpected predatory pounce. The Pegasus perception jarringly tilted in an instant, as her entire skull was suddenly plunged into the humid darkness of the avian’s claustrophobic gullet, which easily stifled the muffled meep of terror the equine emitted as she glided into the tight threshold of the throat.

The taut tube not throbbing as she had expected, as the gluttonous bird lacked the peristaltic plumbing to swallow the fidgeting female, and instead, it leaned forward in an attempt to force the panicking Pegasus deep into its gaping gizzard with a gliding glug. The distraught shape of the shuddering mare clearly visible in the ostrich’s swallow neck, as she slipped ever deeper into its digestive depths in a series of jerking motions. Her body forced to assume a naturally streamlined stance as she slipped into the slimy snare of the accommodating oesophagus, unable to resist much more against the larger beast than with a scared shuffle of pitiful protest. Fluttershy’s soft hooves harmlessly scuffing against the ground, as by the time she realized what was happening her forelegs were already pinned to her side by the entombing embrace of the ostrich’s oesophagus.

The skin-tight seal slithering over Fluttershy’s fur, matting it down with a clammy deluge of drool, as the ostrich naturally lubricated its lunch for the terminal slip and slide to its waiting stomach. The mare wriggling incessantly, but she could do nothing to stop her slow slip into the bird's dilated digestive system, leaving Fluttershy to twitch and jerk in a feeble attempt to escape the ostrich that had easily overpowered her. The half-engulfed mare unable to understand why the ostrich was doing this, as a mare was way larger than the normal size of its meals, leaving Fluttershy at a loss at this sudden carnivorous behaviour.

The mare whimpering through the soft tissue encasing her, but with the gullet having a good grip on her she could let out a scared shiver as the Ostrich pulled her from the reassuring safety of the floor with a sudden jolt of its lithe but muscular neck. Fluttershy acutely aware of the feeding habits of birds, and she immediately knew that her gut lurching inversion was the ostrich attempting to use gravity to assist in the ingestion of its substantial serving of jibbering horse flesh.

The ostrich just pointing its bill skyward and relaxing, allowing a few jostling wobbles to ease the equine into the waiting embrace of its body. Fluttershy oozing into the oesophagus in a steady seep, as the tractionless throat offered no grip for the mare, leaving her unable to stop the ostrich’s intents to securely stow her within its gurgling gut. The female’s fumbling frame jittering, looking for any form of purchase, but it was in vain, and inch by inch Fluttershy was replaced by a struggling swelling swaying from the bloated bird’s misshapen neck. The ostrich s’ing its neck with a couple of contracting clenches, in an attempt to expedite the process, but at this point, the plump pegamare’s weight alone was enough to send her on a terminal transition to becoming a substantial belly bump. The gastric chamber seeming to sense this as it let out a low groan, signalling that it was growing impatient as it awaited the massive meal of fresh mare meat looming just above its insatiable clutches.

The bird gurning gut not having to wait long, and in a matter of moments, Fluttershy was slotting through the snug stomach sphincter, only to be dumped into the pooling acid that had percolated into the stale space in anticipation for her inevitable arrival. The bird’s belly ballooning to contain the curled-up frame of the packed away Pegasus, who was forced into a cramped fetal fold to fit within the churning cavity. Fluttershy bunched up, head to breast, unable to do any meaningful movement aside from a tremble against the tart sleeve smothering her. The ostrich examining the Pegasus shaped bulge quivering between its legs with a curious stare, as in an instant the mare was converted into a convenient clump of calories. The addition to its abdomen giving the bird a waddling gait, but this did little to impede it from wandering off in search of a safe place to go to ground, so that it would sleep off the lively lump in its middle just like any of its previous partaking’s of pony….

Fluttershy was more than happy to adopt and care for an ostrich, though I don't think the pegamare was properly prepared for the bird's appetite...
