I haven't done a request on 8chan in a good while, so here's the result of working on this for over a month between some fun sketches and a under the table commission for a friend.
I really loved doing this since I've learnt to streamline my coloring process and started getting used to lining things properly. The reason this took so long at all was because of the character detail alone. Most of the designs for Flan and Sakuya are from the fighting games since those were the only 'decent' references I could find. Zun's art isn't exactly... Refined, I should say-- for proper reference.
Anyways, this question's for the Touhou heads in the audience:
What's the best entry for the Touhou series when it comes to games?
I'm mostly a fan through the fan anime and some of the manga, but not really the games. The only one I've beaten was Perfect Cherry Blossom, but I got the bad ending. :(

oh wow nue prey also I recommend mountain of faith or ten desires. perfect cherry blossom is a pretty good one to start with. definitely dont start out with subterranean animism or legendary of the lunatic kingdom like me.

A lot of people don’t know where in Europe they’re from but Remis first language is English and she loves tea so it’s a pretty safe bet

Now that I'm thinking about it I knew they were from Europe but I've never questioned where in Europe. I think I'm on the side that their french since Flandre is a french word to describe a part of Belgium, and the name Scarlet is similar to Scarlett a word with French origins, but then again England has a lot of French influence.

Honestly the topic of what nationality they are is debated a lot in the community my personal least favourite is “they are vampires so they must be Romanian” lmao personally I just think trying to invade the moon is a very British thing to do but really most of touhou is just head canoning

True that is very British. Yeah, I have to agree that there are a lot of things that use headcanon within Touhou, but I think the head cannon of Touhou is one of my favourite things about it. When you have something like this where there is no one answer it allows people to put their own twists and ideas into fan content.

If you want an easier time getting into the series, Perfect Cherry Blossom is a good place to start, otherwise from the newer games, hidden star in four seasons or unconnected marketeers are also pretty solid starts

I'd reccomend Imperishable Night and Mountain of Faith first since they're both very good but get difficult later on. My absolute favorites are 11 and 15 though. 18 is also a banger. Anyways, good lord is this a great piece. Nice job

Aahh it was fun watching the process of this & I'm glad to see it fully complete! Any Flan stuff is great but this is simply sublime~ :3
Wouldn't blame ya for mostly being a Touhou fan from many of the ridiculously high quality fan animes that straight up look official (looking at you, Fantasy Kaleidoscope). As for the games, Perfect Cherry Blossom probably is the best one to start with before getting into the other games. Any other suggestion already listed by others would be a good starting point as well.

For a Touhou game to start with one of the spin-offs may be a good idea. I haven't played it in a while, but Touhou 15.5 antinomy of common flowers I remember being a fun fighting game. But if you are looking for a non-spinoff maybe, Touhou 8 Imperishable Night, or Touhou 17 Wily Beast and Weakest Creature.
One thing I should mention is that Touhou 8 isn't on steam but the other two are.

Wow, amazing job on this. Flan pred is always great to see, I love this sequence. In terms of games to start off with, Perfect Cherry Blossom seems to be a good one, though I personally started with Touhou 17, which is probably a decent one to dive into for new players.
