Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
I went with the suggestion to follow Kip's lead on this, and it led us into battle with the two mercenaries! I pulled from some of the comments on the last post where I could for Adrea's strategy here, but I thought it would be best to open things up for input now that we have a clear idea of what we're up against!
Dessa (the dark elf swordsman) took a heavy hit from Kip but clearly still has plenty of fight left in her. Her shield is scorched and damaged, visibly wearing down already. June(the halfling archer), on the other hand, is still dazed(though no longer completely unable to see) but otherwise unharmed.
Kip seems fine still even after the cut she suffered.
So, how should we handle the rest of the fight? Any input about something outside of combat here?
You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418
Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

Loving the way you're describing the combat here. Very dynamic & I love the back & forward between everyone involved.
Well, I was hoping we wouldn't have to kill anyone here but it looks like it's them or us now. Considering it's life & death now, we shouldn't hold back at all.
We should try to keep our focus on Dessa. Kip hasn't been able to do much without us distracting her, but while her attention has been split we've been wearing her down. We should look for an opening to blind June again though, and take it if we can find it. Ideally we can keep June stunned while focusing on taking down Dessa, and once that's done June should be easy to deal with.
Once the fight's over, we can't afford to let them go. They've made it clear they wouldn't do the same to us either. As much as I get the sense these aren't exactly 'bad guys', and are probably just adventurers like Adrea, we can't allow news that we were here to get out, so they've got to go. I feel like this is something Adrea wouldn't really want to do since it's not like they've done anything to deserve this and we started the fight, but I don't think there's any alternative.

I agree with Vigorous, we should keep attacking Dessa so that Kip could have an opening. But instead of casting Firebolts over and over, we might need to just cast Blind on her once. If we get both rid of both enemies' sight, we can have an easier time taking care of them. At the very least, we take down the dark elf just as the halfling regains her sight. But we mustn't be afraid to drink one of our mana potions, as this is a life or death situation here. If we lose, it is very likely that we'll get eaten.

Can we blind Dessa without also hitting Kip? They're pretty close to each other.

Good point. Does the blind spell only affect one person, or can we blind multiple people with it? If it's the latter, then that means we can try to force both archer and fighter into one spot, and blind them at the same time. If the former, then we'll blind the fighter, and try to blind the archer. Or at least take several arrows from the archer to protect Kip.

Yes, the blind spell we know only affects a single target(if you look at the description when June gets hit here, what it does is create a blinding flash of light literally right on top of the target's eyes). However, it is also a *projectile* that you have to hit the target with for it to actually take effect, so if the two of them are close together and our aim is off, hitting Kip instead by accident is definitely a possible risk.

Focus on breaking the shield, when that's gone Dessa won't be able to block our blind spell.
Question: Will using a blind spell against someone who just recovered from one work? Will it have diminishing returns?

Yes, you can blind someone again even if they've been recently blinded and it will refresh the effect

I think we continue on doing what we're doing. Reapplying a blind on the archer to keep them out of the fight, and using fire spells (even if we don't hit the elf, we might be able to burn the shield down) Another potential option is to conserve mana (seems that the blind spell requires more mana) and instead take the archer down ourselves while they're still recovering, and leave the swordsman for Kip. I think there is no reason to, so just continuing on with the fight as we're doing is good.

Adrea should first refresh the blind on the halfling and then call out to kip "Stand back and get ready!" Once Kip is clear, focus the flame jet on the dark elf with the intent to ruin her shield. Refreshing the blind first is important, I believe that even with her currently blurred vision, the halfling would probably be able to get a bead on Adrea if there was a mass of fire coming from her. Once the shield is unusable, tell Kip "She's all yours!" And then begin focusing ice spells on the halfling. If Adrea's Mana drops below, we'll say 25, drink a mana potion.
Question: Is there any pertinent combat information Adrea knows about Halflings or Dark elves that she could share?

Not really, other than the likely obvious fact that halflings are small (and therefore a slightly harder target to hit from long range than an average sized person)
