Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
Suggestions were a bit mixed on the last chapter! Based on the general concern about being outnumbered and a few suggestions I went for Adrea trying to intimidate the bandits into backing down, which we unfortunately rolled terribly for, and then when the fight broke out aiming to fend them off until we can flee rather than fight to the finish. I think most specific combat suggestions ended up getting used, including a clever idea to get Madeline's horse out of the equation and keep her occupied for a bit!
But now, we're fully in combat and it seems like the bandits are being underhanded and targeting the two non-combatants. What should our next move be?
For reference, here's what the current situation looks like:
Lenora is off the cart on the right side grappling with the hobgoblin bandit that's taken a decent beating from her already. Adrea suspects Lenora is planning on swallowing her.
Adrea is still on the back of the carriage. This wasn't explicitly noted last time, but her bag is on the floor in the cart and not equipped on her back right now (that and the fact that our aim is to hopefully just fend them off and flee is why I ignored the suggestion to drink the ichor of rava for now). We do still have our mana potion right with us on our belt though.
Miram and Joan are in front of the carriage hacking away at the ice wall. They've done noticeable damage but it still looks pretty sturdy.
Madeline, the halfling archer(Brenna), and the human swordsman(Ella) are on the left side of the carriage relatively close to each other. Madeline is mostly unscathed and heading towards Miram and Joan. Ella is a bit roasted from our spells but doesn't look too worn down and is also heading for Miram and Joan. Brenna is blinded and trying to stumble back to a safer distance.

Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

It occurs to me that we could throw up an ice wall of our own and block off Brenna and Ella's attempts to get to Lenora and Miram. At the very least, we would be able to slow them down and get some pot-shots in, if not force their attention back to the combatants, and if we're lucky, we might get Madeline to call out the hidden mage thinking that it's their doing.

That what I'm going to suggest! Ice wall throw up is always a good trick! We can't bend the wording of the spells, but we can use the wording of the spells to oour advantage.

Actually, question. Do we think that Lenora can keep fighting after swallowing the hobgoblin? If not, we might want to tell her to wait to eat until either fight is over, or we’re ready to leave, depends on how things play out.

Probably not as well, but it's entirely possible! Adrea's best guess on the matter is that if she's going for it in a situation like this(outnumbered and still in the middle of battle) Lenora is likely pretty confident she'll still be able to fight with a gut

I agree that throwing up an ice wall to block them from being able to reach Miriam & Joan should be our priority. From there we can use the high ground on top of the carriage to keep pelting the two of them with fire spells (possibly searing wave if they're still packed together). We shouldn't hesitate to chug our mana potion if we need to either.
Unrelated to the current encounter, but does Adrea know who or what Apothet is?

Apothet is the most common name for the land of the dead! So that was 100% a threat that she was going to get violent

Also, since we're doing blinding spells, can we affect more than one people? Block the way of the two people with the ice wall, then blind the leader, disrupting their order. Then we take out the archer or the swordman, which one is closer to us. But we should remember to reapply the blindness to the archer.
Though I gotta say, I did not think to enrage the horse. Did not know that was a option. Hell, I didn't even know the bandit leader was on a horse.

Each cast of blind will only affect a single target, but more than one target can be blinded at a time if they're hit separately

that the plan! Can't bind multiple people with one spell, but we can still blind multiple people!

I agree that ice wall would be the best best. I think it would be smart to use it to just trap one or both of the bandits (especially Madeline) instead of trapping Joan and Miram though. Once Lenora wraps up with the hobgoblin she should be able to focus on one of the remaining bandits and go from there. We could also use the ice wall to make a half-wall for cover while we assist Lenora if there is any extra power.
