The Carnal Church of Uterall, Byte #3:
The magical industrial complex of The Carnal Church is a series of factories fed by an extensive network of railway systems, not too dissimilar to the industrial machine that dominated much of England at the time of the Church’s founding.
Many of the various towns found across the Carnal Church’s lands are what could be described as ‘Factory towns’ where the majority of the population are put to work in the large mills that dominate the towns centre, these mills produce a variety of goods, although the overwhelming majority of products are merely components used in the creation of other products, as such, the factories form something of a network, with multiple parts being made in different factories across the nation, before al being shipped to another factory to finish being assembled.
Due to the heavy integration of magic in lives of those living in The Carnal Church, most of these products will involve magical enchantment at some point, as such, most, if not all, factories will test its workforce for magical aptitude, taking those with the most talent and putting them to work in areas of the factory commonly referred to as ‘enchantment sweatshops’.
Originally, the owners of the various mills were independent of one another, much like during the real world British Industrial Revolution, they may have met and schemed together from time to time, but largely, they owned their own factories, however, as the industrial needs of The Carnal Church expanded, many conglomerates and corporations began to form, often absorbing various factories in order to produce component parts for a more complicated end-product, and although the ‘owners’ of these factories are mostly still a hereditary position, these owners are more like overseers, answering to another higher up.
