I was still on my post-apocalypse vehicle kick when I remembered the web-comic "Quantum Vibe" and thought of this one. A force field energy bubble that's also used as a means of transportation.
I imagined the lady in the picture as a kinda'-cyborg. The cybernetic implants on her body acting more as interfaces and focus node for other special equipment that her society uses. While she isn't usually dressed up like this, the clothing being something of a consequence of almost being sacrificed by a primitive clan in the post-apocalypse deserts. Her actual home being more technologically advanced like the girl on the hover platform and the transport this woman is using being technology that's exclusive to her people: a society that is advanced and benevolent but is extremely isolationistic due to the current state of the world.
Sometimes you got to just throw yourself out there and nearly get carved up by a cannibal tribe to know what's going on in the world...

Little from column A, bit from column B.
I mean, the colony she's from and is doing investigative exploration for does have access to a stable food supply, as well as luxury foods like chocolate. :3
Plus, the clan she was investigating might have tried to fatten her up before sacrificing her, so there's that.

Now, only if she collected a special sample before she left.

Reminds me of the Bubble monster from the old D&D module Palace of the Solver Proncess. Those were pond dwellers who would try to absorb a person inside them and then sink again to suffocate the victim inside it.
