When Shez and Byleth find themselves locked in yet another bitter battle, the effects this clash could create are clear to both mercenaries. What neither knows is how the wheels of destiny will turn, leading both down a path where just one leaves the battlefield alive and well...and the other is left to fester as a messy pile on the ground.
This was a very fun concept to try out with my good friend 
Ssublissive. The RP itself was done in the fall of last year, but I've been so lax in editing that it's taken this unfortunate period of time to get this ready to be uploaded. But I'm glad it's finally done, because I'm very happy with what kind of story it ended up becoming! This really notched a lot of tropes I enjoyed, combining an underused narrative device into that with the time travel that Sothis so graciously provides. Shez didn't get enough vore attention with Three Hopes' release, and while she doesn't exactly fare the best in one timeline, I'm glad she could show her pred bonafides in the other!
Please let me know what you thought of this collaboration, as well as any other thoughts on Three Hopes noms - I'll have to come back to the game for another story sometime.

AbsoluteVL! In order to better fit with the new image, I took the opportunity to update this story with new dialogue, some color coding, and some improved details plus correction of small errors. While I think the original was fine, these additional details should add some new life to the story, so I hope anyone returning to this piece enjoys the additions!

Heck yes~ I've been looking forward to reading this one, and it was very hot! I adore Shez and seeing her get a chance to eat is lovely, got some nice moments with her unfamiliarity with being a predator (her brief moment of sympathy for Byleth being crushed was cute too), and Arval cheering her on (though not without their usual sass) was sweet.
And Byleth getting a chance to turn the tables didn't disappoint! Honestly this is the way Sothis' time shenanigans in that Hopes battle should've gone, one more meal devoured and processed by the Ashen Demon. It is too bad for Shez and Arval, but they did have their turn... I did like seeing Edelgard and Alois too, all felt in-character and that Alois pun was incredibly on-brand.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the various elements included as much as I did (many were ssub's usual clever ideas). Shez as a pred was really fun to write, given her casual approach to life and her being a novice to predding, the latter of which I found to be a fun way to differentiate her and Byleth further and make her first pred experience all the more sweet.
And I agree, Sothis should have totally made for vorish opportunities with time travel. Those pesky game devs and their anti-vore stances :p

Three hopes…what a complicated train of thought. This isn’t a review board though. I did like shez(….eventually) and I really liked the gameplay. That’s all I’ll say today.
My only given opinion is on the story. And I did like it a lot. Slightly light on the swallowing details, but two scenes, so neat.

I found the gameplay and Shez both quite fun, so it was a nice experience while it lasted. Nice to hear it was a good read - the swallowing was a little light in order to focus the story on the digestion and the time travel. I admittedly prefer digestion focus to swallowing focus and want to do that a bit more often.

Thanks! Yeah, Shez feels very preyish except when it comes to Byleth, imo. And even then she’s great prey!
That’s such a good moment from the Bernie x Hapi support chain; reminds me of the temptation I had to make that a story for obvious reasons, plus Hapi’s design is incredibly good in Hopes :3 maybe I’ll have to do it someday~

Absolutely incredible work! I do love a good reversal story, and this is excellent since it has both the reversal AND the forward <3 Love the different styles of the two preds, with the novice and the expert being such a good contrast!

Pretty amazing story. Good use of divine pulse, although personally I’d wished Shez won. Perhaps we can pretend that created a second timeline lol
Although I’d wished Arval would have been conscious like Sothis once Shez was absorbed, I’d be curious what they’d think of their situation.

I feel that! I'm a huge Shez fan, so it would've been great to see her win in the end, but at least she got to enjoy her spoils while she could!
Arval being conscious post-digestion is an interesting route to go down. Definitely something to consider if I end up using Shez as prey again in a future story.
