It was a cold and dark night in Beach City. A fierce thunderstorm had blown through town and wiped out the power, leaving many homes and businesses without light. The DeMayo Barn was no exception, for the barn was cast into a bleak gloom with only faint moonlight to see by.

Lapis Lazuli, the newly inducted Crystal Gem, stumbled through the darkness. As part of the effort to restore power, Peridot had volunteered to build replacement generators for the town. That was ages ago, and with little desire to spend the night alone, Lapis searched for her partner.

“Peridot? Are you done in here yet?” asked Lapis as she entered the barn. The blue Gem held out her arms, grasping at walls and support beams for guidance. If only her gem was placed on her front; then Lapis could use it as a light source.

When no one answered her, Lapis dove deeper into the dark building, her brow furrowed with frustration. This was hardly how she wanted to spend the evening. They were missing precious Camp Pining Hearts time!

“It’s already midnight! The marathon started hours ago!” said Lapis in a cross tone. That green Gremlin had better not have ditched her. How else would they watch TV without a generator? “… you in here? Peri-"
