Damn, saved only because Jack had expected it from Roxie.
Gotta hand it to her though, the whole "soul is dead" bit was a sly jab at both Jack and Res. I figure that she would've found a way to cancel Jack's gig even if she had digested Res and continue her concert uninterrupted.
And now that I think about it, the "poison pill" strategy also carried an implicit message: that those who are aware they're fading away will fight tooth and nail to stay relevant.
Very good development. Lots to unpack.
Based on how the chapter concluded, I think that you're able to end the story here, but it would certainly be nice to see a part 4 XD

Glad you liked it. Yeah, the soul is dead line is meant to hark back to her first meeting with them, the line that changed her mind about doing a bit with the mouse in the first place. To make her... rather literal declaration as a statement piece. Maybe a little controversial, but good for publicity, sort of thing.
