The Interstate Snake By SwimmingInTheSwamp -- Report

I mentioned in previous posts that in this universe, Preds can choose to reform their prey after digesting them. Most of them do, but some... choose not to. This is one of those guys.

Ricky "The Interstate Snake" Wilson is a notorious Pred who stalks highways and secluded towns to eat unsuspecting people wandering alone, or tricking them into isolated settings. Don't let his nerdy, unkempt and awkward appearance trick you.... he's very dangerous and knows what he's doing, and does it so well that authorities never catch him. He's caught a count of nearly 60 victims, all trapped on his waistline.

I'm curious, is there some kind of time limit for a pred to decide if they'll let the prey reform or not?

Surprisingly, no. There is no time limit; Preds that don't reform can withhold their Prey indefinitely, which causes weight gain. If the Pred suddenly decides to reform Prey after several months or even years, the prey will come back. If the Pred dies before that happens, the prey die permanently.

The prey are kind of trapped in limbo; their souls are dormant within the Fred's body (usually in their fat, like butts, breasts, or tummies) and are functionally dead.

Interesting. Must be a hell of a shock for anyone that ends up being kept years and then suddenly is reformed.

Is there hypothetically a way to force the release of prey if the pred keeping them is caught?

Nope! The only way for the prey to be reformed is for the Pred to will it. I mean, you could theoretically hold a Pred at gunpoint and demand them to release their prey, but it's still up to the Pred.

Guess the only punishment at that point would be keeping them somewhere confined until they agree to release their victims? I imagine that and only being fed normal food and no humans for long enough would start to wear on a pred?

And if the pred is eaten by another pred do the souls stay with the first pred then?

SwimmingInTheSwamp

Interestingly, the souls would transfer to the second Pred, who could possibly reform them. The thing is, the longer Preds go without reforming prey, the more their morals starts to deteriorate, and the more hungry they get (For example, a Pred like Zack is relatively benign because he reforms people as soon as he digests them, while his friends are not as nice because they "hold" onto their prey for longer). The second Pred, depending on how many people the first Pred ate, may start to suffer those same traits.

So even if the second pred decided to reform all the captured prey and the offending pred right away, the sudden influx of so many souls could still corrupt them and make them more likely to turn into someone like Ricky?

Bingo! It can be resisted, but it's still pretty hard too. They'd have to reform them pretty quickly to prevent those types of effects.

Neat! It's nice to know more about your world, hope I didn't bother you with my questions, I just love discussing world building

No problem! It's not annoying, I like to discuss world-building

So... what if there's a prey who wants to spend a long time as part of a pred who's usually a quick reformer?

SwimmingInTheSwamp

Posted by SwimmingInTheSwamp 1 year ago Report

It’s a case by case basis. If a Pred wants to they can “hold” onto their prey for longer periods as long as it’s only the one.

Also, can a pred selectively reform their individual prey? Can prey be merged into one person by the pred?

SwimmingInTheSwamp

Posted by SwimmingInTheSwamp 1 year ago Report

Yes, Preds can selectively reform individual prey. No, they can’t merge anyone.

He's about the same. He is also very sneaky, and uses his meek appearance to trick people.

I'm imagining a Harboild Detective pred trying to catch him. Because if it's not murder it's still kidnapping.

...I really want that to be a storyline now...

Wonder if you are gonna make a pred Police or detective that is trying to find a way to stop him. That would be interesting lol

Looking at this again, I just feel blown away at how attractive and big he is. I wouldn't mind being digested by him and permanently being a prisoner in his body.
