FluffyLizardFunTime posted Dhal's The Crocodile in her server, then basically baited me to write a parody. I was busy imagining cultists going door to door to spread the word, at the time. This nonsense is what resulted.

That's a fun concept ????

Harken to our words of caution
neighbors near and neighbors far
There slink vagabonds about our street
at night upon your door they'll beat
and no propriety will bar

their trespasses. We of the HOA
cannot allow this state of things
our nighttime watcher met her fate
she was by their idol ate
now only gastric rumblings

remain. I could continue.
Us members here must resolve
to meet this crisis without shrinking
face their leader without blinking
We'll draft an ordinance to solve

the problem! If we prohibit
their slouching goddess taking pick
of wives and daughters for her meals
at time of her first hunger peals
their exit will be quick!

But we'll take our time at writing
we want the clauses to be clear:
Prohibit Using Humans For- *tnk* *tnk* *tnk*
is that knocking at the door?

(the question marks were a smiling emoji, I thought those worked in comments)

Alright, this is _brilliant_. I love the idea of a community fighting digestive murder with what is essentially a strongly-worded letter to the editor.

Also, I don't think I've seen enjambment that ambitious since e e cummings :)

:D
I didn't actually know what that device was called. I think it's a bit of a crutch for me, but I also enjoy it. Call it a guilty pleasure.

I really enjoyed your imagery in the OP!
