Half-burned. Half-blind. Half scar. The lone survivor of apocalyptic inferno stews in scorn, honing her blades until star and god alike are flayed ribbons of glistening gore. A silent war in peace. A perfect hatred born from love. A tired life defined by death.

I'd been meaning to get Valencia redesigned for a while. Like the original draft of Beatrice, I rushed in gathering references and stuff, and I felt that the resulting design did not match her appearance. Those who read the more recent stories she has appeared in would note that she wears a mask to cover the scars - but even aside from that, her design felt a bit too cutesy for the tone of her story.
However, I struggled finding an artist that I thought could capture the right balance between the elegant factor and the cool factor. Until I found this artist, and I just knew I had to get this from them! There is definitely a certain intensity to her now; be it from her more noticeably muscular build, to her more narrow face, that half-lidded, side-eye glare. She has a more unique outfit as well - it gives her something of an aristocratic vibe, but then, she is friends with Beatrice, so perhaps she's rubbing off on Val. (From the Doylist perspective, it is because I used Uncle Lovecraft as a reference, because he tends to be drawn with the full-body sort of clothing I was thinking of.)
I made sure to keep the fox hairtie, though. It was, I think, the most inspired part of her first design.
Considering their propensity for drawing the absolutely prettiest of men, I'm likely to hire them again, should I get some of the more manly guys in the setting drawn. Or just when I want to get a character being cool, really~

local "appreciate a dragon day" mfs when she cuts a dragon down, breaks him apart, splays the gore of his profane form across the stars, grinds him down until the very sparks cry for mercy, relishing in ending him here and now
