Cloning technology was developed early in this setting, including fast-growth clone tanks, which are used to create large numbers of men for food, sex, and cheap labor, like the man seen working in a quarry here. By contrast, many forms of vehicle and heavy machinery do not exist, including automobiles and airplanes. Long distance travel is mostly by train or zeppelin, whereas local transit makes heavy use of bicycles and rickshaws.
