The dragon girl and wererat girl were resting while they waited for their meals to digest. Elara had taken off her cloak and placed it on the bed so they would have some protection from the grime and dust that had built up on it over the years while the two of them laid down. “Well, look who it is! It’s Lexa and her harem.” One of the ratboys said crudely. She recognized his voice too, a boy from her school.

The back of the coat closet opened up into a narrow hallway, lit by small windows high up on the walls with fogged glass. A black-furred lady wererat stepped back from the secret door she’d just opened, and out of attack range. “How about the four of you come out here where the light’s better? And don’t scream. You’ll just call in meaner things than me.”

Lexa and Elara both woke up early, their hungers sated. They each thought of asking what the other had dreamed of eating, but decided against it. It was pretty obvious. Instead, they quietly worked out their plans.




Lexa had been gifted a set of padded leather clothing, well-made and adapted for her body shape. Nanna had picked it up during a mission right after Halloween, which made it loot and a suitable donation to her hoard,

Elara sighed as she looked out the bedroom window. A distant house had put up signs for her to read.





“Come and join us! Your leader commands it!”





“You look a bit down,” Kathy commented, sitting on the nearby bed. It was Lexa’s bed, but she wasn’t there now.

In a house that tried to look unassuming, but didn't always manage it, a group of children had gathered to prepare for the night's festivities.
