Also the last raccoon Jake ever saw.
This morning I saw a neat sketchy animation of a raccoon swallowing someone then burping up a hat. Sure enough this inspired a story.

Ooooh - this one is definitely in my top ten of your works.
Now that we are talking about it - I don't think I ever saw you using a coon in a situation where you would expect them to be. For example raiding a garbage can. Or making noise in the attic. In both situations I can imagine a human to check what this ruckus is all about. The trash can story could end with the coon being stuck for a while, as he can't climb out anymore with it's belly so full, after pulling the curious human into the can head first as he glances in. Also the attic with these spring loaded ladders might be an interesting situation. With none of the other house inmates being any wiser as to where the investigating human has vanished to...
Ah, so many ideas...

I like the trash can idea. I may have to use that. And the feet first raccoon on boy ones is also one of my favorites. One of these days I’ll do a sequel in which he swallows the mom.

Yeah - I mean, I can totally see a human leaning over and down into a bin at night to check if a little kitten or something is stuck down there - only to find a hungry coon waiting for him.

The original idea was to do a two parter about the coonskin cap, but it wasn't a popular strip so it never happened.

I normally try to explain how the animal gets away with it, but not everyone likes all the details. Maybe the raccoon was promptly caught after this, maybe not.
