Typically, when a pred has recently finished digesting prey but isn't quite done dumping whatever's left of them, the combination of the remains still present inside the pred's lower digestive tract covered by the thick layer of fat due to the newly-gained pounds result in a big, protruding belly with a smooth, rounded shape. As a result, it's fairly common for female preds (and some very girly male preds) to be mistaken for pregnant in such a situation.

In Mabel's case, that confusion is further enforced by her boyfriend's attitude : being absolutely fascinated by his Apex girlfriend's appetite, Ron will often admire her gut and caress it with the same lovestruck, tender expression that a young father-to-be would have while touching the belly of his pregnant lover.

He always makes sure to enjoy it while it lasts because he knows full well that, a trip to the bathroom and a few visits to the gym later, his girlfriend's belly will shrink back to its normal state...

...Until her next big meal, that is.
