A barnacle diet will be most anything organic that can fit in its stomach-mouth. Typically, prey will be small scavenger animals and birds drawn to the bones and remains below the barnacle from previous meals.

The primary method a barnacle uses to capture and incapacitate prey is its thick saliva coating on its tongue and within its maw. Laced with a paralytic agent, it will typically paralyze live animals less than 3 lbs by the time it reaches its mouth.
Generally barnacles aren't a significant threat to people as the paralyzing saliva will have little immediate effect on an adult sized person due to their size and body mass.

Umi even lacking any clothing or covering will only feel a slight tingling sensation from the locations the tongue attempts to snare for now...
