This one's a bit different in tone from the last few, set after the modern world has a major shakeup. Clinging to normality is tempting, but not necessarily smart or helpful.
As should probably be clear by now, my d20-based fantasy setting and modern settings operate very differently, even when the same concepts appear in both. The modern setting has much less structure behind it - but does allow for slower digestion than something based around 6-second turns. For those disappointed at the lack of onscreen vore... sorry. By the time it drew near, writing it out explicitly seemed like it would clash too much with the conversation.
While this story has gone in a very different direction than our reality, I can't and shouldn't say it's completely disconnected. However, don't try looking at it as a direct metaphor for any events in the last decade. It was made as a story first, and trying to map it onto current events, there are a lot of things that won't (and shouldn't) match up. In reality, there is no corresponding big conspiracy hiding in the shadows. That's CEOs and Evangelists, and their attempts to twist the US government to their wills are done publicly.

“I had an idea that I could dress up as a ghost and go undercover. Scout out the festivities and take out other monsters who overstep.”
Oh, so that leads to the Halloween story.
I also tend to play it more fast and loose with my "modern day" setting, whereas the fantasy one, while not exactly hard per se, has more structure and lore.
I found the way Bettie was eaten, off-screen and only shown through the meal tracker, to still be pretty effective narratively. It gave an emotional impact along with some objectification (being listed like any other food item), and it matched the way the previous preys were talked of, as mostly a tally that the conversation got quickly through.

I'm glad that worked for you. But on the other hand, I wanted to make it obvious that Fenny and her handlers were keeping a close eye on how many humans are in her diet. And it's an open question how well she's come to terms with it.

Oh yea, I don't mean that Fenny was consciously trying to be mean to Betty. It might just be a result of the system.

Well, it's not like Betty really minds much.
My original plan for the vore scene had Bettie continuing to contribute to the conversation via text messaging for a bit. She doesn't spell out her intentions to the others at any point, but it dawns on them how she never asked to come out.
