This week I wanted to show something from the fauna that populate the world in my Xantos series. Many of the creatures there are different from those on earth, but still has an ecological role to fulfill, the toadzies are one of them. Looking like a giant amphibian dinosaur (creatures like these would actually exists during early-middle Permian period, 265 mill years ago, long before the dinosaurs), they are the cattle of this world, being bred and kept like cows. They are so far only mentioned briefly in ch.14 but are abundant.

The picture was fun to draw, but I’m not entirely satisfied with Elyon’s angle. But what do you guys think?

Nina was trying to hold back her laugher, and to her credit, she did, but the grin on her face as probably a dead giveaway about what she thought of the situation.

She watched, arms crossed, as Elyon flails in the jaws of yet another oversized creature. This time, it was a toadzie, standing there with its usual vacant, dopey expression, chewing absentmindedly on its latest catch. Its round, bulbous eyes blink lazily as it tried to work its meal down.

"NINA!"

Ah. There it is. The yelling.

"This stupid cow-frog is trying to EAT ME!"

Nina sighs, rubbing her temples. "Yeah. I see that. How'd you end up in there this time?"

"Oh, you wanna chat about it while I’m marinating in spit?! HELP ME FIRST, TALK LATER!"

Nina ignores that and takes her time examining the situation. Elyon is, as usual, naked, because of course she is, her arms wedged up near the toadzie’s mouth while the rest of her is already bulging halfway down its throat. Her large, well-endowed chest is doing an admirable job of keeping her from going down any further, squishing against the creature’s lips like airbags deployed mid-accident.

The toadzie, unfazed by Elyon's complaints, lets out a long, wet gllllrrp and pulls her in another inch.

Elyon shrieks. "NINA, I SWEAR, IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING…"

"Okay, okay! Sheesh." Nina shifts her weight to one hip. "At least tell me how this happened. What were you even doing out here naked?"

Elyon sputters, her face going red. "I was taking a bath in a pond, while Xantos that lecherous treacher, said said he would keep an eye on me. But the one time that pervert actually wanders off, THIS THING shows up and I…" She cuts herself off with a loud EEP as the toadzie's tongue slurps up around her waist.

Nina raises an eyebrow. "And you didn’t notice a ten-foot toadzie sneaking up on you?"

"I WAS WASHING MY HAIR! Do you know how much work it takes to keep this much hair nice in the wilderness?! I was concentrating!"

"And you just stood there while it sucked you up, feet first?"

"No! I tried to run! But have you ever tried to sprint while soaking wet, barefoot, and covered in soap?! I slipped, okay?! And then it just GLOMP… next thing I know, I'm on the menu!"

Nina snickers. "So, to summarize: You got naked, lathered up real good, and threw yourself into the waiting mouth of a cattle?"

"That is NOT what happened and you know it!" Elyon thrashes, but the toadzie simply lets out a pleased GULP and pulls her in up to her shoulders.

"ACK… okay, that’s enough of that!" Elyon yells, her eyes going wide. "Time to get me out, Nina!"

"Hmmm. I dunno." Nina taps her chin. "Kinda wanna see if it can actually get you all the way down this time."

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" Elyon shrieks as the toadzie’s throat bulges, working her down inch by inch. "NOT FUNNY, NINA! NOT FUNNY!"

Nina smirks. "I think it’s hilarious."

The toadzie, now thoroughly committed to its meal, tilts its head back and with one final, enthusiastic GLRRRPH, Elyon vanishes completely.

There is silence.

Then, the toadzie lets out a long, satisfied croak and licks its lips, looking very pleased with itself.

Nina places her hands on her hips and watches as the massive creature's belly stretches from wiggling woman inside. "Welp. That’s new. Usually, you get stuck at the chest. I must confess that Xantos and I had a little bet whether a toadzie could swallow you or not. I was sure your boobs were too big for one to swallow you, while Xantos betted against. He insisted that despite their size, they were squeezy enough to get around. Seems like I lost."

The toadzie’s belly bounced and she heard her name loud and clear through its skin. "NINA!!!!!"

Nina lauged but got a grip on herself. "Are you okay in there?"

"NO, IT’S HOT AND SQUISHY AND I THINK I’M SITTING IN SOMETHING that REMINDS ME OF GRANDMA’S INFAMOUS NETTLE SOUP!"

"Sounds you are doing alright."

The toadzie gave a lazy, gurgling belch and a collection of soap bubbles erupted from its maw.

Nina snorts. "You really got swallowed mid-bath, huh? This brings back memories. I clearly remember the first time we met. I was bathing in Long Lake when Xantos scooped down and swallowed me while bathing, and then I ended up meeting you in the stomach. I didn’t have a soap though."

More thrashing from inside the belly. "CAN WE PLEASE FOCUS ON GETTING ME OUT BEFORE THIS THING DECIDES TO DIGEST ME?!"

"You're invincible, besides, thoadzies are herbivores, you won’t get digested."

"THAT DOESN’T MEAN I WANT TO MARINATE IN TOADZIE GUT JUICE FOR THE NEXT HOUR!"

Nina chuckles, then pats the toadzie’s belly. "Alright, big guy. Spit her up."

The toadzie blinked at her, then let out another lazy croak, followed by a big bubble.

"Come on," Nina says, knocking on its gut. "I know you can’t digest her, so just give up already."

Another blank stare. Then, a deep, gurgling HOOORP.

A second later, Elyon shot out of its mouth like a human cannonball in a shower of foam, landing in an undignified heap on the grass, dripping in goo and looking like she wanted to strangle something. The toadzie let out another wet belch and Elyon got her soap back when it hit her in her head.

Nina grins down at her. "See? That wasn’t so bad."

Elyon spat out a glob of slime. "I hate this world."
