A while back I asked ShyGuy9 if I could write about their character Ashe.
This story is told mainly from Ashe's point of view when one day in her depressed, meaningless life, she finds some reason to live; however fleeting the feeling might be. This is not going to be a very happy story, but it will hopefully still be a satisfying one by the end.

If it isn't clear from the contents of this story, this tale—like a lot of my writing—is written from the experience of a great deal of hurt in my lifetime. It's a kind of hurt I know that many of us have been through in some way or another. The way our families mistreat us, the way our "friends" and other "loved ones" take advantage of us and then abandon us when we need them—some people have it worse than others, but that doesn't make your own individual pain any less valid. There is no panel of judges I can stick you in front of and say "You have it worse" or "You don't have it that bad" like you do or don't have a right to cry about it. All you can do is decide how (and if) you want to move forward.
Do you let yourself be crushed by the misery of your life and the wrongs against you? Or do you recognize what power you do have, and seize back that control? No one is ever going to be able to do it for you no matter how much they might wish they could. To those of you who have those friends who can guide you through those dark times, never take that blessing for granted. Yet to those of us who do not always (or ever) have that support in their worst moments, understand that even after the darkest nights, morning always comes. We have to go on. We must go on. Not only must you go on, but things cannot be the same. Sometimes that requires doing something drastic, and sometimes it might seem even more painful to change. Nevertheless, you must find a way or make one—because eventually you will arrive at a far brighter place.
The road ahead is difficult. It's not going to be good all the time. It will be better. It will be worse. That is the adventure of this life. Do not let your misery stay your feet.

What a fantastic ending. Fingers crossed for a sequel.

This was a really cute and heartfelt story (and the vore was cool too lol). Honestly a great piece of writing, I really liked the fact that they didn't immediately end up going out as a couple, even if it's implied that they may end up as one. More realistic that way.
I'd say I hope for a sequel, but I don't know how probable that is, so I'm just gonna say thanks for the great story man :).

Just wanted to say that this was an incredible read from beginning to end. Depression is a tough topic to tackle, doubly so in kink spaces, but I think you handled it more than just respectfully, but masterfully. The ending hits especially hard because it's a question I myself have struggled a lot with: How can you love someone else when you can't even love yourself? It would have been so easy to just say, "And they both lived happily ever after," but life more often than not isn't like that, especially when you're dealing with all those nasty voices in your mind trying to tear you down. It's a constant battle that never really goes away, but with a lot of time and effort, you CAN get to a better place.
Thank you for sharing this, it was a lovely, thought-provoking read <3
