Ripper the wolverine's dinner peers out of his jaws in the brief moment before a last gulp transforms him from "gnoll" to "food."
I was in a class this week and was able to get away with doodling various animals. I was able to sketch all of Ripper except his head (and wide-open jaws) and was happy with the pose, so I thought I'd pencil in some shading and post it. Originally the meal was going to be a hestan cat-person, but I hadn't drawn a gnoll in a while.

I've always liked how you drew gnolls (well, pretty much everything else, too). Love his expression. :3

You mentioned on "Welding Skiltaire" that the drawings you do in class are often clean... did you leave certain parts of this undrawn until after class for that reason?

Specifically I had just a circle for his head and, obviously, no peen drawn. The rest of him was contour lined in, and I liked the lines, so I brought it home and did all the shading, adding the missing bits. I had all sorts of ideas for what could be sticking out of his mouth -- paws, half of somebody, a hestan cat-person's face, and eventually a gnoll's instead.
