Not so long ago, psvorefan suggested that I update my avatar to showcase my growth as an artist. Well, yesterday was one of my "off days" so I did just that--granted I was interrupted so I had to the final finishing today. Total time was approximately 4 hours, which is pretty fast for me, though this is a fairly small image.

So I figured I'd show it off at full size and make a few announcements regarding commissions. I could probably put this on my blog, but this is a bit higher profile. First off, given how much faster, easier, and better SAI is in comparison to my current tools, I'd like to switch over entirely to it, but a number of my patrons have asked for Vectored lineart - specifically ndnode, cows, conn, and klinkitty, (There may be more; I suspect I have not been as assiduous in tracking my patrons I should have been) and I would like to now what they think of this potential change. If they're amenable, I'll treat their billing as though they'd ordered regular hand lineart instead.

Secondly, I've concluded that I'm going to need to do a minor price hike in addition to discontinuing the vectoring of art. I feel I must stress that people who've already commissioned me are locked in at their current price--that will not rise. Effective this Sunday (21 August 2011) I will be increasing base costs for the following types of commission as follows:

Lineart (Tablet): $6.00
Lineart (Vector): Discontinued

plus Color: + $8
plus Background: + $10

Additionally I feel it's probably necessary to add the following surcharge; as a basic part of each image, a commission may have up to three characters without additional charge.
Each additional Character will add $2.00 to the cost.

Hmmm... hope I don't sound like I'm coming off too greedy... in any case please give me comments, especially those of you who wanted vector art.

Well, I still don't want to overcharge. And I'm still not sure what price would be most reasonable. Partly because I'm not entirely sure how good I am.

You're good, darned good. You want to make money easily? Try putting a few pictures on Zazzle or Cafepress as shirts, mousepads, mugs, etc. That's easy cheesy residual income. (And I get no commish if you do it, lol)

A pretty face on a mousepad always works! Nice backgrounds, catgirls holding computer mice, tons of things, send me a PM and I can shoot ya some ideas. The only risk you run with doing that is your time.
