She normally tells them, but some don't believe her, others think they can win anyways, and a few are curious enough to try. Though the trainers don't get eaten all the time.

I'm trying to do a balancing act so that Anna is not a complete monster, but has a team of highly voracious pokemon.

This is great! one pet peeve of mine, though: hollywood's got it backwards - thumbs down in a gladitorial arena means "sheathe your weapon" as in, "let them live", thumbs up means "Draw your dagger."

But that's a problem with hollywood's errors, not this. Keep up the great work!

Anna has more of a... posse, than a team. A lot of poke-girls travel with her, but she only takes one into battle at any given time. Going off of normal pokemon game logic, this is more than enough for her to crush most trainers. For rival battles and gym leader battles, she brings out the big guns.
