This three page comic was commissioned by AzureJass

The past few weeks have been all about mermaids for me! Big, big mermaids!

This series was drawn completely with my new laptop, and it took a frightening amount of time, mostly because I had to go through a lengthy adjustment period to get used to drawing with the new hardware. It wasn't easy, in fact it was extremely difficult, but I'm feeling much better with the new system now.

Hope you guys enjoy the comic!

This might end badly...
For the old man. X3

Congrats on the going all the way down the rabbit hole for learning the new process & new hardware. That process can be a royal bitch and many never make it through.

One major complaint. Experienced fishing types know not to stand up in a boat without very good reason as it is dangerous and good way to end up in major trouble.

Yes, it is a frustrating and difficult experience transitioning to a new system. Artists are probably some of the worse people ever when it comes to using new hardware/software, and they usually have to be dragged kicking and screaming. I'm a lot like that, but I really should have done this years ago.

Re: standing on a boat
I remember that rule from being a kid. I imagine the old man stood up in shock, or to get a better look, when he saw something large begin to emerge from the depths.

Yes, shock would do that, make ya stupid/revert to more childish/less thinking behaviors.

And yeah, I remember the issues I've had when one word processor software after another have disappeared. Then all that third party free stuff came out in the last few years...

Open Office for me :)

open office was the end of that trail for me as far as major softwares went (corrupted son to it last school year when he had a major school project that required Office type stuff, but he could not afford the software). Then I discovered Scrivener... and... ahahahahahaha, it was finding my long last family hehehehe

Scrivener looks quite interesting. Almost like a Photoshop for literary writing, it looks.

It takes some working with to learn, thus why so many tutorials, from the website, on how to use it. Forums for you to share tricks with others, etc. But the ability to breakdown what you are working on into scenes, chapters, sections, novels all by just adding more to the directory tree like structure-- priceless.

Or...

Yes, just like Photoshop for literary works, lol

Is your new laptop one of those touchscreen ones? So, you still drew this with a stylus, right?

donutwish

It is an Acer R7. It has a touch screen as well as a pressure-sensitive pen stylus. And yes, I drew all three pictures of this series with the new laptop and its pen. It was a challenging exercise!

temporos

Huh. The Acer US store doesn't sell that. Looks like a really nice machine. Ah, well, I couldn't afford it anyway. LOL

Apparently, they can be found as refurbished sometimes. You can check ebay. But if you see any other machines that you're interested in, let me know and I can tell you if it's worth considering.

I think the old man is a ghost, his hand in the last panel is transparent.
