An Amber Lion is endlessly loyal and extremely low maintenance. You can leave it on a shelf in its figurine form for months and it won't mind. It's very tidy - It rarely needs to eat, doesn't shed, poop, complain, or make noise unless you want it to. Your Amber Lion simply loves you and wants you to be happy.

A 150 pound burglar who runs into your 450 pound Lion is soon part of a 600 pound Amber Lion. No muss, no fuss, just a temporarily larger Lion until it gradually works off the new mass. The burglar becomes more of the amber goo filling, which both powers the Lion and acts as its saliva, ejaculate, etc.

And if for some reason you want a larger Lion, you can keep feeding it. A centauress once fed her Lion bandits until it was six feet tall at the shoulder, the better to be her lover, and there are stories of even larger ones. They are competent fighters and, due to their gelatinous nature and magical properties, quite hard to hurt, but they weren't designed for battle. They are, first and foremost, lovers and companions, and always in great demand among the wealthier classes on worlds where they have been created.

You've got to love such a devoted companion! That translucent effect looks really cool, it gives the lion a definitive texture, as well as a window into digestion. The way you describe how they function is so well-conceived and cool.

This critter sprang fully formed into my head at a convention last year, which resulted in me writing two stories in one day on my phone and doing several pics of it. Weird how that happens.

Sounds like a neat pet!
Especially since it can also work as a toy in several ways ;3

Is an amber lion flexible enough that he could have sex with someone he's already swallowed? It's a really cool monster you've come up with.

As I've said elsewhere, it is theoretically possible for a Lion to connect two of its orifices with an extension of its throat (or whatever), allowding for nonfatal vore play. However, the outer skin of the Lion feels and acts like flesh. Despite its appearance it isn't a blob or gummi creature, so its amber hide would prevent the sort of play you suggest.

Alright. I remembered an old picture with a rubbery Ripper mounting someone he swallowed and just wondered if the amber lions were similar in that regard.

Do you think we'll ever get some amber lioness / unbirth?

I could see myself drawing that one of these days.

Oh, so their primary purpose is being a companion?
That would explain why the one from your first amber lion story was on such a hair trigger.
Also why getting off seemed to reset it as an ornament.
(Nice blur effects, too!)

Blurring this one took a while. The prey and lion are in different layers and there's another color layer in between, plus a lot of actual blur tool work.

The Amber Lion in the first story had ended up in a no-magic world and was not strictly operating correctly. It eventually starved to the point that it ate the person who had it, who while not officially its "owner" since they didn't know what it was, would still not normally be at that sort of risk. Once it had fed and accepted the lady in the next story as its actual owner, it reverted to its normal, safe-as-long-you-don't-threaten-its-owner persona.

I wouldn't mind being eaten so long I was let out alive and well
