> Get Myla a check-up
You turn to Dr Mitchell and ask him if he would be willing to check on Myla. "Hm? Ah, the... wolf girl, correct? Is she ill?" You explain to him how she was behaving strangely the other day. You also ask if he could perform a pregnancy test on her as well. He nods to you. "Yes, just bring her here and I can do some checks."
Back at the inn, you find Myla has just woken up. You tell her that the doctor is willing to perform a check-up on her. In a few minutes, you are back at the barracks. The doctor examines the beastkin, and after a lengthy process, turns back to you. "There is good news. Your friend isn't pregnant." You both sigh in relief at that. "And aside from... existing conditions, she is in perfect physical health."
"So I'm fine then?" Myla asks him. "Are you sure? The other days was..." Her voice trails off.
"Physically, yes. You are fine." He turns back to her. "But you said you felt dizzy and your head was foggy. I'll need to perform an additional test to make sure you are mentally fine as well." He thinks for a moment. "I don't have the equipment I usually use for this, so we'll just go with some questions. We'll start with some simple ones and move on to the more complex. Hm... First question: What is your name?"
"Really? It's Myla." She frowns. "Is that sort of thing really needed?"
"Yes. It's to get a baseline." He nods. "These first few questions will be very simple. The next question: What is your age?"
"I'm uh..." You see her mentally counting. "23 years. I don't get asked that very often."
"Yes, that is fine." Mitchell nods again. "Hm... Your hometown. Where are you from?"
"That's uh..." She pauses for a moment. "Uh... here? Malor?"
Isn't she from Kerim? She didn't really sound very certain either. The doctor turns to you and you shake your head. He frowns and turns back to Myla. "Ms Myla, are you certain?"
"I'm..." She thinks hard for a few moments. "I think so..?" You start to get a little worried.
"I see." The doctor pauses, thinking. He points over to the bed where Jates lies. "The girl that I was brought here to work on. She is a friend of yours, correct? What is her name?"
"Her? Well, 'friend' might be stretching it a bit but uh..." She pauses for a while. Much longer than she really should. "She's... Gina..? N-no wait, that isn't right... It's..." She closes her eyes, trying to focus. "It's not... Uh..." Myla looks over at you, and you can see that she's trembling a little. She can't remember, but she knows that she should.
You quickly turn to the doctor and tell him to stop. "Yes. I'm afraid it's already obvious what has happened." You step over to Myla and try to comfort her. "But the question is why. I'm already aware of your potion poisoning. Did you recently take any potions?"
Myla looks down at the floor. "Y... Yeah... I did. It was before Floria came back to her apartment, so I didn't know about the poisoning..." You ask her what sort of potion she took. She gives you a weak smirk. "A weight loss potion. Stupid, right? I was just trying to get these things down a little..." She motions towards her breasts.
"I see, it's possible that was the reason for this." You ask him how severe it could be. He shakes his head. "I'm not sure. Without proper equipment, it's impossible to tell. Her memories are obviously confused though." Myla looks very upset to hear that. "I cannot say for sure if it is progressive or not, but... you must avoid taking ANY more potions. At this point, I wouldn't suggest even taking any standard health or energy potions. I worry that if it progressed..." He pauses for a moment, thinking. "She... might become feral." You ask if there's a way to cure her. "Right now, there's only two possible cures. Either she must wait for her poisioning to fade away, which could take months with how severe it is. Or, she must find a way to be cured via magic. I'm afraid I don't know any mages who would be suited to that though. Your best options would be the mages guild in Mesai or Grental. I'm afraid Sidol is lacking when it comes to skilled mages." The doctor stands up. "I'll leave you two alone for now." With that, he leaves the room.
Myla sits in the chair, silent for some time. "Floria. You can't have a kid while I'm like this." She finally speaks. "I don't like it, but... I can't take care of a kid if I can't remember shit." It's obvious that she's very upset about all this.

Well... It's clear we can't have Myla in this condition, if we get in a fight she may forget who's side she is on, or that she's even fighting. Best suggestion is to take her to Mesai or Grental.
The Elf girl can take us to her former home along the way, but we should get Myla fixed up.
Posted by Kartomic 9 years ago Report
She's forgotten names, but not people. Given her emotional attatchment to Floria, I doubt she'd suddenly turn on us, so long as no more potions are taken.
Posted by Metalization 9 years ago Report
Well, if she's having memory problems you probably shouldn't leave her alone it seems you might forget that she can't have potions, must protect best girl.

She must be cured. ASAP! To the closest mage guild hall! AWAY!!!!

Go in for a mighty, boob squishing hug!
Posted by Apostolos 9 years ago Report
okay that's definitely hitting like a load of bricks ... we'll likely have to take the potion for now and wait for jates to heal as she is the only viable healer currently and then see if we can find that dragon lady and ask for assistance in reaching either destinations.... but really Rayen? early stage Alzheimer's from a weight-loss potion? what kind of shit luck do we have?
Posted by Rayen 9 years ago Report
Well, Myla has 1 luck sooooo... :V
Posted by Apostolos 9 years ago Report
at least let that one luck count towards a slow progression of her affliction please

Aww I feel bad fo Myla now ><

Comfort Myla!
Give her a big hug, tell her it will be alright, just make her feel better and confident, and then go get help at Mesai or Grental (do a little research to find out which would be best to go to)
Posted by Razgriz 9 years ago Report
give myla all the support she needs in this moment. Also ask delicately why she wanted to use a weight loss potion. You love her anyway!

You are history's greatest monster.

Initiate comforting hug!
Well, I guess this kind of settles the whole 'puppies' thing, doesn't it? That being said, we should elect to get her some help as soon as it's convenient. This also furthers our need for Jates, or someone with healing spells, in case we get into serious combat.
Posted by DeityV 9 years ago Report
Yeah definitely comfort her. Turns out that she needs us more than ever. After all, since she can't take potions, she must rely on us for our healing spell. Let's try to give this a shot. Offer to give Myla a massage and have her lay face down or face up. Just remove her clothing. Then just begin massaging her while casting the heal spell. It's a long shot, but maybe we can come through some sort of breakthrough, like an enhanced heal. I'm sure we can't cure her poisoning through it, but maybe we can heal just enough for her to remember Jates. Worst case scenario is we take care and bond with our fluffy, letting her know we will do everything we can to make her better. Since she can't take potions, she needs us now more than ever. Only us and the injured Jates know heal spells (as far as I know), so her well-being is even more dependent on us.

To be honest, at this point, I'd probably save and quit the game, hexedit the savefile to up her luck a lot and then see, how her increased luck turns out. Maybe it was just a temporary confusion after all or that there are indeed skilled mages at Mesai, that can help her.

Posted by Sergit 9 years ago Report
Alright, so... uh.
I don't want to give up on the puppies just yet, but she kinda has a point. We cannot wait for her condition to improve, she must be treated!
First of all, we hug her, let her cry on our shouder if she has to, and tell her that we will stay with her, no matter what. Now, I am guessing that, for the time being, we can't just go and embark on any big adventures.
For now, I'd vote to wait a day or two to see how Jates is feeling, and get her up to speed about Myla's condition. I think Jates, as someone who has a crush on Myla, has the right to know, even if it's unlikely that she can join us in our trip to wherever the mages guild is.
Also, if Edris will be coming to pick us up to raid the fortress of the bandits, we'll have to tell her that we cannot go with her, as Myla needs help now. I think it's better to tell Edris ourselves that we won't be joining than letting someone pass her the message for us.
She did say that she would follow us to find out more about the mysterious man who killed Nysk, but I doubt she'd want to go on more errands with us. So it seems reasonable that we will be saying goodbye to Edris and the loot of the fortress. Myla matters more to us, after all.
Lastly, has Mitchell already received payment? If not, we've got to get the money he deserves for saving not only Jates, but also, for checking up Myla. If she gets better because of this, we will owe one to the good doctor.

Yay! finally a reason to not have kids...you know more than common sense and the thousand other reasons we had to not have kids that everyone kept ignoring.
Our Poor Puppy needs a cure though...and we'll get her one~!
Probably nom Edris to avoid her taking advantage of the situation or causing a fuss.
Posted by RumiBelly 9 years ago Report
it's not a reason not to have kids unless you plan on not fixing myla
Posted by YesImCanadian 9 years ago Report
I agree with Raven. And even if we get her cured, there's still another thousand reasons not to have the puppies.
Posted by RumiBelly 9 years ago Report
Please read the comments on the previous posts about how long it will be until it even effects anything. it's not game over by saying yes to puppies.

I've read them and my answer won't change.
Posted by The-Lonely-Gamefreak 9 years ago Report
Might be best to drink that one potion now. Might just be best to get her some rest for now and wait on Edris. Perhaps if we keep her in the inn or the barracks to rest, Myla can rest while Edris and Floria go off to the fortress. Doing things sneaky might be enough just for two... right?

We're off to see the mages. the mages guild of Mesai. because I didn't see Grental on the map and I don't want to go chasing a non-existent city when Myla needs help.
We will figure out what to do with the pregnancy AFTER we fix Myla.

whoops I see Grental now, either way it's farther so still Mesai

Wolfgirl waifu is in trouble.
Big fluffy wolf books are Floira's play pillows.
Also, need to check to see if memory loss has effected Myla's combat skills.
Well, so much for sexy times and this batch of pups, must prepare for the adventure of saving Myla's mind and curing the wolfgirl of potion poisoning.
(May be a good time to study up on our spells, too)

OK, first things first, we comfort Myla. We ask her if we should take the potion. If yes, then we do. If no, then we don't. Show that we really care about her decision about this sort of thing (Personally, I'm still no for the puppies).
I've been looking at the map and both places look like there equal distance apart, with Mesai being a little closer.
We can ask Garrett if he would mind taking us to one of the places. He did say, after all, that he wanted to be an adventurer at one point. Now he can. It should take us, what, 3 maybe 4 days to get to one of them if he agrees.
Finally, we have to tell Edris that we can't attack the fortress just yet. Explain to her that Myla isn't well and that we need to go to Mesai or Grental her heal her.
Posted by AnominableBreadman 9 years ago Report
I agree with everyone regarding embracing her, we can tell her it is alright, that it wasn't her fault, and that not only will she make a great mom, but they will fix this I'd say the first thing in the morning we get our dear friend the centaur a ride straight to one of the cities in our destination, who knows maybe one of the magic guilds could not only help Myla's memory problem, but perhaps her "other" problems as well, plus we could probably ask to learn a thing or two. We honestly have no other choice but to take care of Myla's problems now, so that we not only get some love points from her, but also get her back into working order when the time comes when we will have to charge into combat once again.
Posted by Ark 9 years ago Report
ok get her to the old man, he will more then likely be ok with looking after her while we figure out what to do next. leaveing her is not an option, letting her take a potion after that news is not an option, and she will be VERY dependant on a healer after this so jates neets to come with us, old man if he can, and we will need someone else to front line with her when we go to get her healed.
rayen hinted at loot in the fort, and not just any loot the special stuff so there is probbly plot hook/somthing like that there so if we do go there first we will need a FULL team. and we will need the coins, this wont be cheap. not at all.... something like this in dnd is (if the dm alows it) AT LEAST 2.5k at most 15k.... so yeah we will need coins so we either get that on the way or get that from the fort.
Posted by Ark 9 years ago Report
this also explains why she has been off and on treating us like a stranger or acting like we never insulted her trama.... she was forgetting it.
Posted by Ark 9 years ago Report
so it IS going to get worse. we may have to put her down........ let that sink in befor you chose to act.
Posted by Rayen 9 years ago Report
Old man? Do you mean Dulstaft? He isn't even in town anymore. :V
Posted by Topazert 9 years ago Report
.....comfort her and tell her she's not going feral on our watch, we'll get the money for the mage hall and fees and see her back to normancy giving her a kiss and a dear hug for now spend time with her and try to keep her calm then later talk with the Captain about using the yard to keep ourselves sharp for our mission against the bandit fort, it's the only place we can get the money needed to cure Myla. Though make sure to visit Jates and Myla when we can and pray to the goddess for Myla and Jates recoveries. Though before all that with a heavy heart we have to take that anti-pregnancy potion.
Posted by paltiel 9 years ago Report
The Grental Empire has a higher concentration of non-humans, whereas The Kingdom of Mesai gives off a vibe of being largely made up of off-the-wall religious nutjobs. Granted, Floria might encounter more prejudice in Grental, but methinks Myla has a better chance there.
To be honest, I disagree with the doctor's prognosis. (Call it a gut feeling..)
Lastly, give Myla a hug. She's still a person -not some broken feral critter- and deserves all the love we can give.
+1 for the pregnancy ender potion option.

Paraffine's post is the best of the bunch. ^_^

Mesai isn't super religious, but they are more than the other two nations. They're mostly just human-type races and strongly believe in "uniting" the world. :V
Posted by Aickavon12 9 years ago Report
okay here's a question. When will you give us a break? What's next? The town spontaniously combusts when we fart?
Posted by davidargall 9 years ago Report
When the writer gives us a "break", the story has a major chance of becoming dull, and we stop reading. So however much we want a break, we don't want a break.
Posted by Aickavon12 9 years ago Report
that's not necessarily true. It's a common misconception actually :o it's why peaceful/friendly chapters in stories aren't critisized. It's why micromanaging/farming/crafting/chill noncombat activities in MMOs are so popular. It's why sometimes rping a man drinking at a pub meeting another man drinking at a pub and sharing ideals and stories is so popular amongst the rp group. A pause between crisis allow the player/reader/watcher to reorientate themselves and calm themselves down before the next event, these relaxing moments are often used in shows to actually build up character and show their personalities and everyday behavior.
As long as the break isn't too long the audience's attention will remain focus and keep a level of 'relatability' :D
Posted by Rayen 9 years ago Report
Breaks are good, but this is just kinda a "stressful" part. There will be breaks occasionally. Besides, I do give small ones pretty often. :V

Long Term Planning...
So we have two basic choices: Journey to get Myla fixed up or "retire" for a couple of months while she recovers. Both have serious drawbacks.
"Retiring" means getting some dull day job. We need a job for Myla too, to keep her out of trouble if nothing else. With her memory problem, that could be difficult. She is able to remember immediate instructions, but Orders she was given yesterday may not stick. And people who turn to banditry are often those who don't want or can't hold a steady job. So we will have to work at that.
But those healing mages are far away, and almost certainly want lots of gold. Maybe Myla has a pile, but we adventurers are famous for being broke. Odds are we can't pay. Now the mage may have "this little problem..." we can fix, but that problem is all too likely to be life threatening, and quite possibly illegal and/or immoral. And he may not have a problem we can fix. That's not a good choice either.
I would go with the slow but sure way, but I am not an adventurer.
Now we likely have a couple of days to decide and we can do several things in the meantime that may help either way. So as to immediate actions...
Posted by davidargall 9 years ago Report
Immediate plans...
Start with hug and assurance that everything will work out for Myla.
we want to be able to keep it. We will probably have to eliminate it, but right now we can wait and hope.]
Talk with doc more. Are magic healing staff and/or spells dangerous to Myla? or just potions? Mention she was pretty functional yesterday, tho she did have problems right after she took the potion. Actually, she is somewhat functional even now, remembering that her relationship with Jates is mixed, so can he do some more testing? In a casual and gentle manner?
For that matter, how cautious should we be around potions? No more than once a week? don't mix particular types? Other rules to follow?
Ask if doc wants to take on more patients. There should be several who want to avoid the day's travel to the city. Tell him to charge them, if not necessarily in full or always. But he is doing them good and they should help him in return, if nothing else, just to pay his expenses .
Tell doc that he can stay at inn if he wants.
Check with captain. Tell him of our plan to take out the bandit fort and ask if he wants to go along. Admit we don't know location/numbers/time/etc, and want to keep it quiet anyway since the bandits likely have friends here in town, but it will be soon and we could use his help. Also we would like to use training grounds again.
Head out and put up poster for doc saying he will take patients and hunt up inn buyer to arrange preliminaries for sale.
Train with Myla.
and...
Right now, we need the gold from taking out the fort, either to pay for Myla's treatment, or living expenses while she recovers. Either way, we need to attack the fort if that is possible.
