> Enter from the side

You decide to enter the fortress from one of the side entrances. Deciding to take the eastern entrance, you follow closely behind the small group of soldiers. They encounter a couple bandits, which they incapacitate with relative ease. It would seem these soldiers are pretty professional. You support them with some healing as needed as you pass through the fortress's outer wall. Once inside, you can see the battle at the main gate. The bandits are putting up a fight, but it's obvious that they won't last too long. They seem unorganized and some of them even appear to be surrendering. You would consider this another trap, but even a trap would have a bit more organization to it.

Bluebell flies off towards the battle, and you try to call out to her. However, she quickly grabs one of the bandits, flying off with her and disappearing. It looks like she won't be helping you in this battle. You just hope that she comes back afterwards.

The soldiers leave you and Garrett to join the battle, flanking the bandits. You carefully move around, advancing towards the fortress's main building. You don't really meet up with any more bandits, though you doubt that there's many left at this point. You do hear some commotion from inside the build though.

"This is the place where they're probably keeping Myla, right?" Garrett asks you. You nod. It's the only building on the grounds that looks intact enough to really use. The centaur gives you a determined look. "We gotta save her! Let the soldiers handle those guys! We can't waste anymore time!"

-----

I did a roll to see if Bluebell would stick with the party or not for this battle. Looks like she needs more training. :V

Bluebell, WHY!!!

OK, let's enter the building. Perhaps we should let some of the soldiers go first, then follow suit. Don't want to get caught off guard.

Us, Garrett and a few soldiers should go and look around for Myla.

I think Bluebell thinks all bandits are food from our little "lessons" we've been teaching her

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

Yeah, I got that vibe too.

That, or she's going to have some "fun".

Seeing how Bluebell normally acts, you're probably not wrong

Sergit

I would vote for listening the voices inside for a bit before going in.

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report

Agreed. Also flap around and look for a place to make a sneaky entrance. Be prepared to attack stuff with magic, since our Strength has gone down.

Yummy brunette bandit-chan from ARPG 2-72 makes a (temporary..?) reappearance! Ah.. bon appétit, Bluebell?

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I agree with this. Lets listen first then decide.

If we think Myla is in there and getting hurt in some way, then we go in.

MontyMiyagi2513

Posted by MontyMiyagi2513 8 years ago Report

Enter from a window if possible and try to get a sneak attack and have Garrett follow up with some sniping

MontyMiyagi2513

Posted by MontyMiyagi2513 8 years ago Report

And DO NOT BREACH THE FRONT DOOR

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 8 years ago Report

Garrett is the size of a horse. The front door may be the only way he can get in. His chance of getting thru a window is pretty low.

MontyMiyagi2513

That's why floria uses that spell that can blind people as a signal

Judging from the sounds of commotion from the building I think who ever is in there needs rescuing from Myla, get to the building though make sure theres no traps and ambushes waiting for you in and around the building.

Jondo

I'm going to laugh when Bluebell comes back with another Harpy in tow. But this fight seems a little too easy. We should probably get some backup before we head into this building. We'll definitely need backup if we were to run into the bandit group from before. I just hope our princess isn't in another castle.

Thagrahn

Garrett is a centuar, and a centuar has a strong kick with it's hind legs. Therefore have Garrett kick the door in.

Best way to make sure no one is by the door; turn the door into a hazard!

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

What if Myla is in the way of the door when we bust it open?

Cinquint

Then RIP non-birb.

davidargall

So Bluebell thinks her baby chick has grown up and can take care of herself? So it is time is time to grab a tasty meal and let the chick spread her wings on her own. We thought we had fed her more than that. Oh well, that's one less bandit to worry about and there was a major chance she would have been useless anyway. Don't know if we want her back. We would have to work hard to correct her diet. But on her own, she is all too likely to be a pest somebody will kill. Well, we will have to wait and see if she returns.
Right now, it is enter the building time. We take the lead with Garrett following. give him the OK to trample us if he thinks a charge is a good idea Possible scenarios...
Bandits are working on something . Hit them with spells and rifle, mostly trying to keep them disorganized until support shows, which should not be long.
Bandits have finished activating super weapon? Retreat and warn, again using spells and weapons to harass.
Ancient is present ? Do not attack. Send Garrett to warn while trying to bargain that we can be better minions than these bandits.
Myla is present? avoid spells that would damage her, but still attack. If they try some version of "surrender or Myla dies", back off, but do not surrender. Say something like "and then what? We may hold off while she lives, but when she is dead, you are dead, or wishing you were. Now surrender and we will be gentle with you." give them time to realize there is no way out.

Demicus

Heee, least she got a nice cute lunch. Or toy. I would laugh my ass off if she came back with a stunned harpy in bandit clothes. :P

Listening to the door a bit couldn't hurt. Or trying to peep through the keyhole if there is one. If we need to go in loud, I'm sure Garrett's hooves can oblige.

The-Lonely-Gamefreak

Posted by The-Lonely-Gamefreak 8 years ago Report

Dang it, we don't have enough badges to train her! D:

Well, one party member down, so it's up to us! Though there are some bandits outside, we can probably assume the strongest are within. Going through the front entrance may not be the best approach, but it looks like we might have to. The bandits might be readying an ambush inside, so getting flatfooted will end us for sure. Perhaps just open the front doors and step aside against the outer walls before actually going in?

DeityV

Posted by DeityV 8 years ago Report

Bluebell will be back, just with one less bandit. We need to move swiftly and accordingly while they are disorganized. We can't just wait and listen while Myla is in danger. Barge open and use the torch spell to blind the enemies within. Then have Garrett charge and take them out while they are startled. We have to move swiftly and efficiently to rescue Myla the hostage.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

Not sure the torch idea is going to work. In the description, it says that it emits light. It doesn't say how bright it is and based on ARPG 2-78, we're not strong enough to make it the brightness it would take to blind them.

Jondo

Posted by Jondo 8 years ago Report

Floria had a flash spell at one point. We used it back on page 39, but it has mysteriously vanished from our spell book. Maybe we took a few too many blows to the head, or maybe Rayen forgot to put it on our spell list!

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

So we did. Ah well.

If we had it, then I would be all for it.

Rayen

Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report

That was my mistake. When I redid the page I forgot to re-add the spell.

I'll put it back on in a bit. :V

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

Thank you for adding the spell.

OK, the description read "affecting those who are facing it" meaning they need to look in our direction.

If this is the case, we'll need to get the spell ready, open the door and get the attention of whoever is on the other side of the door.

If we do this, we should let Garrett know what we're doing. It would be pretty bad if we open the door and accidentally blind him to.

RavenXeo

Listen at the door, if there is gap in the building at all then throw that flashy spell into the room, when it bursts peek in to see where Myla is and burst in accordingly.

paltiel

Question: Did we keep the Edris-signed paper informing us that we'll never see our friends again?

Cococado

Even if we kept it, it would have smelled like... egg. and most likely illegible at that point.

joe354

Have you go through a window while telling Garret to wait by the door. We need info on the inside.

lordamaterasu03

Posted by lordamaterasu03 8 years ago Report

I suggest going in with some of the free troops you can rally. there's safety in large numbers.

though only the ones that are willing to come along. I doubt they just leave their comrades to fight the battle with the bandits.

also prepare for anything XD there could be traps that the bandits set up as a measure to keeping things both out of the building and inside when escaping.

or maybe just one or the other.

AnominableBreadman

Posted by AnominableBreadman 8 years ago Report

We must Save Myla, we can't let her die, we invested to much into her to let that happen, If something horrible happened to her, I might just croak. (the one pertaining to dying, not the frog variety.) Do what you must be careful, but we have to get in there asap.

Sarethas

Posted by Sarethas 8 years ago Report

Okay, so, basic fort design, if they have Myla, they'd put her on the lower floors, as those are usually the ones that have dungeon-like cells. I doubt they'd be dumb enough to leave someone with Myla's strength outside of a cell.

Therefore, we should listen at the door for a moment, to see what's going on, but if we hear anything about them going to hurt Myla, we have Garrett give us a grand entrance. If we can flag down a soldier or two for support, we should do it. Besides, so far as they know, we were left for dead. If we make a good enough entrance, we might freak them out.

JiklokEmisaryOfSteel

Posted by JiklokEmisaryOfSteel 8 years ago Report

It would seem the commotion outside can ignored for the time being. I'm surprised the bandit with the "odd haircut" has not shown. Perhaps he is inside as a last resort gaurd defending the inner keep? If so we will most likely be defeated easily, his strength had rivaled the monk, therefore we may have to consider waiting for the main force to go inside with us. Alas time should not be wasted. We need to act quickly. Shock and awe. Hit as hard and fast as we can. Try and make ourselves an overwhelming force.
May steel line thy path.
