> Ask Elykae about deal

You decide to ask Elykae if she's still willing to trade herself for the deal. She pauses for a moment, looking at you.

"If... If it's what you really think is right, then yes." She hesitantly nods to you. "Though... I still am wary of the idea." You nod to her, explaining that you won't make her do it alone.

Turning back to Tassri, you tell her that you're willing to trade yourself, and ask if it would be fine to perhaps alternate between yourself and Elykae for this whole idea of "experimentation". The arachne looks slightly surprised at what you say. "Really now? Both of you?" You nod to her. "Well, I can hardly turn down an offer like that." You decide to sweeten it further, explaining that you will ask the others if they would be willing to join, though you figure the only one who would be willing is Garrett. "You're far too kind." You explain to her that this is moreso to reduce any negative effects you may recieve from whatever she plans to do. "Oh, well then." She gives you a smile. "That is a good plan. Focusing too much on one person can push their limits. Even if I don't use much power with them, using mind magic too often on a person can break their mind. Of course, it's nothing I can't fix, though that fixing can take time." She chuckles a little as you continue walking. "You're quite the clever leader, aren't you?" You're honestly not very sure.

"This plan seems sound to me." Elykae nods as she follows. "It is a good compromise, I think. Although..." She thinks for a moment. "I cannot see the wolfkin accepting it too well. And if she no longer tolerates my presence, then we will have to decide a new plan from there."

"The wolfkin?" Tassri looks over at you. "Ah, the one who I am to take a look at? She doesn't like our little deer?" You shake your head, explaining her apparent hatred of the Empire, though you admit that you think part of it comes from false memories. "Hm... I see. But if it's false memories causing it, then perhaps after I cure her mind she will be more tolerant." She pauses for a moment. "...I don't imagine you'll accept, but I can also simply make her more... agreeable if you like. Of course, it's something I'd have to renew occasionally." You know that Myla would be completely against something like that and would be incredibly angry if you accepted, but you can't deny that it would be useful. "Well, think about it. There's plenty of time."

Speaking of time, you tell Tassri that you'd like to not waste any more time getting Tahtsu out of her belly. After all, you've agreed to her deal. "Yes, yes. Of course but... We can't just leave her out here, now can we? She's certainly not in any sort of state to defend herself." You admit that she's right about that, and explain that you'll leave her to recover in Malor. "Then I think we can wait till we get there to bring her back out, yes? I'll admit, it does feel nice to have a full stomach, even if I can't gain too much from it." You frown at her, but she waves it away. "Oh come now, she's fine. Just let me keep her in 'storage' until we reach your little town. Besides, draining a little of her energy isn't going to hurt her." You sigh and give her an annoyed look.

She sighs, noticing your annoyance with her. "If it bothers you that much..." Saying that, she stops for a moment, and you can see the spider-like abdomen of the arachne move a bit. Soon, a bulge moves forward, expanding out into Tassri's human belly. The elf's form stops there though, unexpectedly. "There. I can't really do anything to her here, and she's easier to carry around like this. Are you fine with this?" You figure that's as good as you're going to get, and you can't help but slightly enjoy seeing her belly squirm about a little.

Before too long, you reach the road between the mines and Malor. You realize that you're really not very far from the mines and consider heading there to gather your reward. However, you are suddenly met with Garrett and Bluebell. Looks like they were on their way back to Malor. He still looks pretty down, though it's obvious that Bluebell is trying to cheer him up. The two of them notice you and approach.

"Oh hey-" Garrett suddenly stops upon seeing Tassri, and her squirming belly. "Oh. Uh... hey." You greet him back, and quickly explain that the elf will be spared, and that the spider is just... storing her until you get to Malor. The centaur immediately perks up, looking a lot less upset. "Really? So what are we gonna do?" You explain that Elykae and yourself have offered to let Tassri test her magic on yourselves in exchange for the elf's life. "O-oh. So you took that deal?" You nod to him and decide to go ahead and ask if he would also join into the deal, explaining that spreading out the testing should lower the bad effects that it may have. "Uh..." He scratches his head for a moment, thinking. "Is it... safe?"

"Of couse." Tassri speaks up. "Like I've already told them, the worst that will happen is that you may be a bit... well, completely broken. However, I'm fully capable of repairing that which I break." She gives him a smile. "But you shouldn't worry too much. A strong boy like yourself shouldn't have any problems."

"W-well... I guess I could." Garrett nods, though he suddenly realizes that Tassri isn't wearing clothes and averts his eyes. Seems he was too distracted to notice earlier. "Th-though uh... Do you really have to be uh... you know..." His voice trails off as he blushes, causing Tassri to laugh at his shyness. Bluebell gives him a confused look. Seems she doesn't quite understand why he's embarrassed since she's not the one causing it for once.

You realize the guards aren't with him and ask what happened to them. "Oh, right." Garrett turns his attention to you. "They were apparently told by Marcus to stay behind there. And uh..." He sighs a bit. "I asked the mine owner about... you know, the reward? He was kinda... well, a jerk." You nod, explaining that you doubted that he would just pay without some form of proof. Holding out Tassri's robes, you explain to the centaur boy that you were going to use these as that proof. "Uh... well... He kinda said that he wasn't going to pay. Like, at all..." You frown, and tell Garrett to explain. "I-I don't know, really. He said that he's lost too much to this problem. He also said that you came by before and that you just took too long to take the job." He sighs. "...I don't think he was really planning to pay us in the first place. And I mean... we can't really force him cause he's got some tough looking bodyguards..."

"Just who is this man, anyway?" Tassri asks. You explain who the dwarven owner of the mines is, from what you know. "A dwarf. Of course." She thinks for a moment. "Tell you what. I'll make you yet another deal. That man is obviously the one who kept sending those little meals down to my home, so why don't you just let me 'thank' him for it." You question how she'd deal with his bodyguards. "Tough guys like that are rarely a problem. Besides, I'm not just going to go in there in broad daylight. I'll wait till tonight." She gives you a smile. "I'll go myself. There's no risk for you, and I think I might be able to get your reward. We also can skip our little trade."

"There is risk." Elykae speaks up. "We cannot allow you to endanger yourself like that. You're too valuable to be risking like this. If we do this, then at least allow me to accompany you."

You turn to Garrett and ask what he thinks. "I uh... Honestly? I've dealt with that sort of guy a lot before. They usually end up being my boss or something, you know?" He gives a hesitant shrug. "I uh... I won't tell anyone if something were to happen. I mean, we probably shouldn't do it though. I mean, we could probably talk him into it, or bring it up with the Captain."

Well, regardless, it seems like you won't be needing Tassri's robes for now, so you hand them back to her. "Well, I'll put them on when we're closer to town. I'll admit that the sunlight feels quite nice." She gives a bit of a side look over to Garrett, causing him to blush again, turning away from her. "Heheh... And that's always a bit too much fun." She really is quite the flirt. You're starting to feel like your own flirting skills are being challenged.

"Anyway, let me know what you decide before nightfall." The arachne says as your whole groups starts to head down the road back to Malor. "I'll need a little bit of time to get back up here, but I'm sure it wouldn't take me too long to take care of the greedy little man." Tassri seems to be forcing you to consider all sorts of questionable ideas. Though you can't help but admit that it would be nice to get the reward you were promised. Talking to Marcus might get something done, though he has helped you out a lot lately. You have little doubt that Tassri is fully capable of taking care of it, though that could get you in trouble. And Elykae doesn't seem too willing to let the arachne out of her sight. You still have some time though, and it won't be long before you're back in Malor. You've probably got a lot of explaining to do to Myla...

Okay guys, made some new changes to Patreon. Now, people who support me on Patreon actually get a few things. :V

All patrons: Vote on ideas for What Ifs.

$10+ patrons: Suggest ideas (to be put up for vote) for What Ifs.

$25+ patreons: Vote on player character creation for Side Stories.

$50+ patrons: Create a secondary character for Side Stories. There is a description of these restrictions here: https://adventurerpgame.wordpress.com/character-creation/side-story-characters/

What If is also going to be changing up. It will be done once a month. The idea of doing three at a time was a bit silly. It's also resetting now, so once the month turns over, we'll be doing a new vote. I'm already taking new suggestions right now.

Side Stories (the sort of thing where we controlled Nev a few posts back) are going to be a new regular thing. However, their frequency will depend on something different. I will create a goal of funds, and once that goal is met, a Side Story will be queued up for the next time one can start. Side Stories will run alongside normal posts, effectively meaning two posts a day while they are going on. These funds are increased by Patreon as well as general donations. I'm setting the first goal at $500, so if the only money that goes to that pool is through Patreon, it'll take about 2 and a half months until the next Side Story.

The goal may change occasionally though, especially for the first few times, to see what a good number is. Other than that, it may go up to make sure we aren't triggering them too often if it starts getting met quickly. :V

Side Stories are not meant to be anything too important, but rather just a chance for the players to do more risky things without fear of losing characters. Also, there will still be "mainline" Side Stories that are done in the main character's storyline, but those are a bit more important. :V

We should probably at least tell Marcus that the dwarf didn't pay us, so that he knows he's not entirely trustworthy, when it comes to his word. And we should at the very least ask Myla to let Tassri take a look at her, see if she can easily help her at all.

This one seems almost obvious. Tassri's deals are getting slowly but surely more palatable. "Your boss shafted you? How about I beat them up and get you your money, and also don't make you a bunch of mind magic experiments? And as a bonus I won't wear a shirt for like another two hours."

Well I mean yeah. Even Garrett likes the sound of that.

well, getting the elf spat back up is good, now lets give tassri the dwarf as a reward for being such a good sport. and I think it'd be best if marcus knew nothing plausible deniability and all that.

but, lets get spidergirl to cough up the elf first, put her in marcus' care.

Here is the plan:

Reward
- The dwarf gets one chance to pay up, no more. The deal was with us and not Garret, maybe he comes to his senses.
- Since we are still close, we head there immediatly.
- Tell Sarum if he thinks it is really a good idea to deny someone who is powerfull enough remove the threat from the mine.
- If he continues to refuse, we take up Tassri's offer, but delay it for at least one night. If the dwarf is missing the miners can count one and one together and come for us.
- Maybe we can use Tassri's mind magic so the dwarf says something, that make the others belief he left voluntary.

Malor
- Let the elf out before we reach Malor. Renew the pacification, so she doesn't cause trouble.
- Head over to the baracks and drop the elf with Marcus. Explain the situation in the mines. Stress Tassri's self defense. Blame the dwarf for sending unprepared adventurers down there in the first place. But do not tell that he didn't pay up, or we will be suspects immediatly, if something should happen to the dwarf.
- Head over to Myla. Do not tell her about the deal until after the spider has healed her mind, or else she will be to upset to accept her help. Point out there common origin in Messai, it may smooth things over.
- Afterwards have a pint.

yea we should tell Marcus that the Dwarf wasn't planning on paying the group, as well as that it's okay, since we will be secretly taking care of him with Tassri. After that we should head over to Myla to see if Tassri can heal her memory. Finally have Tassri keep her asleep while we go to another room with Tassri to let the elf out. Buuuuuuuuuut, before we let the elf out, Floria should totally grope Tassri's jugs, flirting with her and admitting that she looks really sexy with that big belly on her :3

Sergit

Posted by Sergit 8 years ago Report

Yes to Tass's plan to give payback to the elf, but... I have to agree with getting Myla treated before, should things go awry.

Also, if we go and cry to Myla that the dwarf was never planning to pay us and that he was a jerk to us when Garret asked, she might WANT to assist on making him pay.

So let's ask her if she is in. If she is, Floria will offer to help too. If she isn't, floria will allow this from happening, but will not participate herself, spending the night having some quality time with Myla, to make up with her.

As for making Myla more agreeable, let's just wait and see how Myla reacts. if she gets violent, agree that it might be necessary. If she shows herself understanding (even if irritated), reward her patience my giving her some credit and not messing up with her to much.

JiklokEmisaryOfSteel

Posted by JiklokEmisaryOfSteel 8 years ago Report

There be some truth in this. The wolf lass dose not like being scorned, how mylady has kept her head upon her shoulders is a wonder in itself.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

Wow, there's a lot to say in this post. Where to start...

So, a new challenger approaches for flirting! Well, we'll just have to see who's better, now don't we! (Unless I'm mistaken, our speech skill also affects our flirting ability. We should try to level that up. As of right now, we are about average amongst all the people we've had in our party )

Pour Garrett, getting teased my not 1, but 3 girls now. Can't help but feel sorry for him.

I don't think Tassri should mess with Myla's mind any more than what it is already. Yes, she' going to fix it, but I'd rather Myla not have her mind affected anymore than what is already is.

I don't mind Tassri..."taking care of" the dwarf. Could cause problems, but as long as she's careful, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I would like for her to come back to Malor first. The dwarf (for as long as we're aware) isn't going anywhere, so we can deal with him in a bit.

Healing Myla should be priority 2, right after spitting up the elf. It would be bad if Myla saw the squirming belly of our drider friend.

Once the elf is free, we should bring her to Marcus so she can rest, and go talk to Myla.

The final thing I'm going to say is: GOOD GOD HER BREASTS ARE HUGE! I don't know if it's because of her belly that they're being pushed up or not, but they are REALLY huge. I wanted to compare them to Myla's, see who is bigger, but that option on the ARPG website got taken down.

davidargall

NO, we are not eating the mine owner, at least not yet.
For starters, he can't pay us if he is eaten, and we will need that money.
Basic is that Flo is a good girl and does not go around eating people just for being jerks. We also have a serious chance of getting that money anyway, by one of several less drastic means.
Going to the law is one way. The mine owner can be sued and forced to pay. While we don't know the local law, we likely have a good case.
Dealing directly with the mine owner is also possible. Flo goes back to the mine and points out the spider was not killed, merely removed, by means that the mine owner does not know, but can be reversed, or made worse by the introduction of additional threats. If the workers are told of this, they may refuse to enter the mine at all. And Flo can speak to them. Or...
So he pays, and we show him where the back door to the mine is.
We may need to accept partial pay. After all, we didn't kill the spider, just made it no longer a threat. but his claim that we took too long to accept is no good since we were allowed to enter the mine for the purpose of spider removal. That means he had a chance to change the terms and did not. So the terms stay the same.
Now he may claim he can't pay right now... and Flo is likely to allow some delay, or maybe a somewhat lesser amount, but we get that in writing and with witnesses so he has no chance to back out later. .

The two ideas can be combined. Flo flies back to the mine now and talks to the owner. If things go well, fly some of the pay back to the party. If badly, Flo makes a fuss about how the mine is still dangerous and the party looks into suing the dwarf.

We are owed a debt. We have a right to be paid OR to alternate payment, NOT both. If we collect the gold, we have no right to any alternative like the dwarf being a meal. And we need the gold more than food.
Our spider is going to become a respected member of society. As such, she needs to learn eating people is a rare event. We don't get to eat those who merely annoy us.

That is a deal we should take. Especially is tassri doesn't let herself be seen with us until after it's happened, that would reduce if not irradicate any negative effects from it. Though the would be minor to start with and a couple of charm rolls could take care of them.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I went back and reread the post. The 2 Malor guards are up there. I don't remember if they saw Tassri or not, but it would be a bad idea if they did see her, and reported to Marcus after she does whatever to the dwarf.

Moxx

Posted by Moxx 8 years ago Report

Gotta remember that Marcus's guards were told to stay at the mining camp, so they'll be an issue of Tassri goes after the dwarf, as well. Also means that we certainly can't avoid telling Marcus about what happened, since those guards would inform him of anything that happened (or get killed in the fracus, which is an absolute no-no).

Now, Tassri does have very good stealth (10), as does Elykae (9), while everyone else in our party is miserable at it (2-4). For sneaking in and getting just one person, Tassri or Tassri + Elykae would be best. Getting anyone else involved will just cause a mess.

For all their stealth, though, they need to be absolutely sure that no one knows it was them that entered the camp. Even rumors that it was an arachne and/or cervidae will point fingers straight back at our party. That means they can't leave witnesses, which leads to bad results if certain people (particularly Marcus's guards) witness anything.

So:

Go back to town and talk with Marcus about this. The dwarf regularly sent mercenaries down into the mine, and as far as we know, all of them died (whether by Tassri or not, we can't say). When we asked him about the latest elves that went down, he seemed to not care at all about them not showing back up. When we finally 'defeated' the monster at the bottom of the mine, he adamantly refused to pay. *Something* is rotten in Denmark.

If Marcus left his guards down at the mine to check out any strange rumors or similar, as a followup to our cleanup of the mine, we suspect that there's a very high likelihood that they might suffer an 'accident' somewhere along the way. We would highly recommend that he recall his men before that can happen. In fact, doing it before tonight might not be a bad idea.

So, if he'd like to give us a message that we can pass on to them to recall them back to town, we can go deliver it before evening hits. That will give us a chance to give the guards the message, sending them back to town, while also giving Floria a quick chance to maybe talk with the dwarf personally and re-confirm his behavior.

Leave the elf in the inn, in Jates' care. Only Floria, Garrett and Bluebell show up in the camp. As long as there's no real fuss made, then we just make an impression as those annoying but not terribly threatening adventurers, who then ran off back to town before dark. However being in camp also gives us a chance to case the place properly.

Guards return to town, while we just leave far enough to be out of the way, and meet back up with Elykae and Tassri. Let them know what we found, and that there's no collateral damage to be worried about, and let them do their stealth thing. Only one selected target, but no witnesses either. Reward is good, but even more important is any evidence of whatever shenanigans that dwarf is really up to, that we can deliver back to Marcus. Elykae should certainly be good at picking out that sort of thing.

With a lot of questionable deals and ideas left and right, Tassri is beginning to feel slightly like Alarak from Starcraft 2.
I like it. Let's go with her plan, and if Elykae wants to assist why not? She's a spy, so she must be good at stealth missions right?

Last post, I said that I got the same feeling I did with Edirs. Now, I don't. Wary, yes, but not the same feeling. I think Tassri just wants to have fun.
