First ever (C) By BIGBIG -- Report

First ever drawing on canvas/paper
Using acrylics this was actually harder then originally thought.
Used a base photo of a girls face for reference.
The lighting and the rest of her body was made up.

A improvised commission for  Combat.
The reason for taking this comm request was being AFK for a longer period, so I wanted to try something new.
I don't take any more commissions at the current time. Only plausible commissions would be if I would contact you instead.

NEW comic "Conspiracy Tastes Good" out NOW !!!> https://aryion.com/g4/view/456373

The problem was the format itself. Its relatively small (A3- 29x43 cm; 11x16inch) and working on a small are on canvas makes it difficult the smaller the details get.

You should try oil painting. Oils are a real nightmare to work with, but the texture variety they're capable of...
well tbh traditional painting still feels like a complete nightmare to me. Even watercolors. If i ever decide to kill myself, i'll do it with traditional painting.
But srsly this is a very good attempt on acrylics. It looks a bit less "whole" then usual, maybe because of the angle of the photo or because the paper is too limited in space for such a spacious ma'am, but the color choices and lighting look really good here. And boobs. And skin surfaces. Ok this is a great painting i am very jealous now XD

It was actually really challenging. The fact that I had to mix out every FUKEN color and tone drew me crazy. Usually when painting on canvas I keep it lose and very sketchy but as soon as I need to render it out in to more detail (especially on round surfaces) it gets very time consuming and easy to mess it up.
Im kind of have mixed feelings about the final result probably because of the facts that you posted. A bigger canvas would have really helped it.

yeah, the hardest part in traditional painting in comparison to digital is that you can't have an infinite canvas and you can't make it bigger just because your composition doesn't fit. this leads to various problems with anatomy and composition, because when you're trying to "pack" the character within the cramped paper space, something always distorts and ends up being misplaced. this can be cured by doing just simply everything on a huuuuge paper which is then clipped to the final image size rather then taking an A3 and suffering from how small it is.

or long-term planning with lots of lots of small sketches can help to work this out too

Go for oil. I can't stand acrylics. They're dry in like half an hour and so viscous. /Those/ make me wanna fling my canvas into the sun. But oils, woo baby. They stay wet and pliable and you can work on them for days or weeks depending on your method and medium.

That's the problem. I hate long term work. I like to be done in hours. Though I do want to try out oil at some point for sure. Even if just to study the technique

I notice the women in your art tend to look quite similar. Do you draw based on a friend or gf/wife as a model for poses?

BIGBIG

Posted by BIGBIG 6 years ago Report

No. I just draw them the way I like my girls to look like.

ZaaZaa

OH NO. YOU'VE MADE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF THE FETISH.

Doing stuff like this must be very hard to do secretly. Does everyone you have contact with know about your pics? Or do you manage to keep a whole canvas painting place in your attic (or where it is) out of everyones eyes?
