03 - Samus: Brinstar Depths By ZeldaNoVorsu -- Report

Hm hm hmmm... What haunts the mind of the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy? She's overcome so many foes that could have devoured her, yet she's always come out on top. There was that one time she broke down at the sight of Ridley, but that seems to be a momentary blip given how many times she's killed him.

What about something that isn't a giant alien monster? It would be far more humiliating for her story to end in say... the gut of a hungry princess that usually spends her time locked in a dungeon. For a woman so strong to end up as dessert for a damsel-in-distress, surely such a thought haunts the corners of Samus's mind...

-------------------------------------------
Wow Peach, from prey to pred in a day, good for you! I usually only reserve that kind of turn around for Zelda (not that I ever really have to). Too bad this version of you is only Samus's nightmare, and you're actually still trapped in an endless cycle of your own nightmare about being nommed by Pauline. Such is the evil of Nightmare I suppose... Anyways, this story actually has a little backstory to it. It was partially inspired by this old post of the same title by  rika in which she lists various potential predators, Peach among them. Of the choices, that one was that didn't fit with the Metroid theme but was the one I liked the best. So here we are, but unfortunately because this is a nightmare, rika's confidence in Samus's ability to escape won't pan out this time...

It has to be a nightmare. Samus is physically stronger and more athletic than Peach. Still great idea having her end up in peach of all people.

I mean, Peach plays tennis and goes to the Olympics, so she must be fairly athletic herself. Still, Samus does have Chozo DNA and lugs that giant suit everywhere, so I guess the comparison just isn't quite the same. That and she tends to destroy draconic creatures, not end up their prisoner every other Tuesday. So yeah, it's quite the nightmare for Samus to have all her strength and accomplishments amount to nothing when she gets nommed by the comparatively weaker Peach. If it had Palutena or Zelda, there's a case to be made for Samus losing in reality, both have magic abilities that counter balance her physical strength. That and well Palutena is a goddess. Yet, Samus fell instead to the Cake Baker herself... I suppose Peach did bake Samus up, just not into a cake...

Huh, I would have assumed that the pred would be someone from her own series. Although there's really only one non-Samus humanoid female who could be a pred, that being Gandrayda (may or not had googled how to spell that)

Well, got to have a little variety after all. And Peach fit my narrative rather as I wanted to show Samus to be stronger than all the monster's that could have eaten her, yet she fell to the innocent, sweet looking Peach when she took it a little too easily.

Yeah, you also established the rebirth of the prey, and their returning roles in the future. You did choose 3 of my favorite preds, along with a bit of Pauline, which, again, is good but far between.

Well, I wouldn't say rebirth so much in that they never actually get eaten in the first place. These are all just nightmares they're having on repeat while Nightmare siphons the negative energies they produce.

Which 3 are referring to as I only have two so far in this series? Unless you are referring to the potential for Zelda, which will be realized eventually. As I said before, I do plan on doing more Pauline at some point where she isn't a nightmare and is on the good gals' side.

I was assuming Samus, since you showed Peach and Zelda as possessed. I might be wrong, you're the scribe after all.

Ah, I understand now. I don't know if I'll do a Samus pred in this series, we'll have to see. Zelda's definitely going to get her chance eventually but I'll keep the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy in mind.
