did you come up with that back story idea or was that borrowed from something else? That was a SOLID scary story

It was made up for the story - though the monster was inspired a bit by John Carpenter's 'The Thing'.

Bravo! I must say this is probably one of your best works yet, and I have never read anything with such frenzied intensity. The impending sense of doom is overwhelmingly palpable as our poor goth girl Lorrie meets a gruesome fate worse than death. It’s the perfect Halloween tale and I do love reading well-crafted eldritch horror to keep me up at night. I think even H.P. Lovecraft and John Carpenter would be proud of this story! It was truly downright scary!

Thanks! I've always enjoyed preds that embody a sense of the surreal, dark and otherworldly. Thanks again for the kind words, it's a huge encouragement!

Anytime dude! The story is a masterclass example of white-knuckle tension and you definitely subverted my expectations with the ending. I am fondly reminded of the infamous blood test scene from the Thing where an assimilated Palmer attempts to ingest one of the group members, which I can tell was the main inspiration for the insidious creature that resides beneath the rotted floorboards of Echo Manner.

Man, what an awesome way to kick off spooky season! I've always loved the idea of a predator imitating those it's consumed and using its new identity to trick the next victim. I wonder how many times it could pull that off before someone started to notice, haha

Stellar work, one of your best!
