But Edmund was not totally finished even then, for what went in must eventually come back out. And so Leon found himself hobbling out of his den during the night, bowels full with the digested cats remains. He pulled himself over to a smoothly dug out hole and quietly let Edmund back out into the world.

The cat spilled out in thick, brown logs full of the furs and bones that once encompassed him. Now lifeless, brittle, at the end of their long journey through Leon’s digestive tract. The fox’s eyes lidding in ecstasy as he finished off his delicous cat snack.

And when it was all over Leon chuckled at his handiwork and threw the dirt back over the makeshift cat grave, removing Edmund from this world entirely.

Then he went back to his den and slept as soundly as ever.
