More practice sketches!

I drink a LOT of cola. Like, one of those large bottles every day, typically. The reason is that it's an easy way to get glucose quickly - that being something that fights my blood disorder right away. Others with the same type of porphyria that I know of use chocolate shakes, candy, etc. My go to is soda.

My family already loved the stuff growing up - specifically Coca-Cola. I personally don't care, and buy whatever brand is on sale that day. I've always loved cola, sure, but it's starting to not feel special, more like a sort of prison. Very little delivers glucose so quick, and I get desperate for relief on days I run out; it's like medicine.

The doc even says for now this is the best solution, until we can look into injecting glucose, and that's pretty short term anyway. So, wanting to draw my bat form again, here I am somehow trapped inside a bottle of cola. Somebody shakes the bottle up and manages to fire me straight out of the bottle and into their tummy - to spend the rest of my (short) time submerged in the fizzy drink!

Getting swallowed and digested alongside a flood of my favourite drink sounds pretty appealing, though I like the first part too, just being sealed in the bottle. Tickles my claustrophilia quite a bit!

I too am a big lover of soda as my go to fix for my thirst. Obviously not for the same reasons as yourself. I'd recommend trying Fentimans Cola, it's currently my fave Cola, having discovered it this year.

Great little sequence all around, Bat Juniper looks cute in this and I'm liking the freckles on her, they don't feel out of place for me any more, they look good.

It's great stuff, even though I have to drink it all the time, I'm never quite sick of cola. Haven't seen Fentimans before, probably isn't sold here in regular stores. I love the Italian soft drink, Brio, which isn't hard to find here. Cherry versions of colas are great too, and usually have even more glucose!

Thank you! And glad the freckles are looking more suited, I think I'm drawing them better now, getting a feel for how she ought to look with them.

Yeah I love cherry cola as well. Both Coca Cola and Fentimas Cola with Cherry. I order Fentimas online via Amazon, but it's also sold by the Morrisons online store on Amazon. So presumably I could find it in a retail store too... Not tried Brio, I might see about ordering some. Another good cola-type drink is Mezzo Mix, I've only ever seen it in Cinema's and in shops in Berlin when I visited last year.

I've never ordered any drinks online, but the city I live in has just about anything you'd want from any country, you just have to find the right stores. I know of one grocery store in the tourism district with an entire aisle of soft drinks from around the world, just haven't been there in a couple years. I should check it out again now that I gotta be a cola connoisseur!

Ooo, I'd love to see Berlin, and Germany in general. I have some ancestry there, but that goes back over a century.

I went in January, it was pretty much cloudy and chilly the whole time I was there and raining on and off Q-Q. I only regret not eating at that little cafe near the place I was staying at. If you go to Berlin, be sure to try their kebabs and Currywurst. Both are delish takeaway foods.

And never be afraid to branch out and try new and different sodas. I recently discovered I love lemon fanta too.

That's what I love about Europe, cloudy and chilly!! Unfortunately I haven't been able to travel outside my country yet, and now that the light and food sensitivities are so bad, I couldn't enjoy it much. When stage three kicks in, probably mid 60s, I'm going to make up for it and see the whole damn continent and taste EVERYTHING!

Probably colas and similar stuff is all I'll branch to, anything with real ginger or citrus is a no-no now. I miss Jamaican ginger beer, that stuff is great!

Oh, thanks for the quick info! That's very interesting to hear. Great job on the drawing as well!

It's a strange thing about this condition, for sure! A vampire that needs sugar! Thanks a lot, I thought it was a bit sloppy really

If not for your reasons listed in the description, I would have thought that Taffy would make a nice Cola pairing. However, art is expression, and expression can be self-therapy, or so I've been told. Also, her freckles go well with the soda bubbles.

Yeah, Taffy was paired up with cola for fifth pic: https://aryion.com/g4/view/696953
Just noticed I forgot to tag her name on that one! But it's probably my least favourite, didn't come out good. I thought cola deserved a better representation than that! And thanks, I guess they do go together well!

Welcome back, good hunter ^^

I knew that cola was healthy in certain situations, but not in your situation. Unfortunately, I can't recommand you some cola as it caused me to do a tooth devitalization xp. About your need of glucose, did you try some good old Swiss or Belgian chocolate (or chocolate drink) ? Tasty and good for both mental and physical health ^^

Hahah, a classical yet great scenario for a vorish situation, from which I'm getting old Sonic games drowning PTSD because of that stressful tune xD

JuniperBerry

Well thank you!

Yeah, there's some subtle things in cola with minor benefits, but nothing like real medicine. My teeth unfortunately had to be removed and replaced long ago, because of renal acidosis (my own acids wore them down). The other problem is porphyria's food sensitivities - there's a lot of them, and real cocoa is one. I can only "enjoy" artificial chocolate now (I do miss the real stuff, ESPECIALLY Belgian!! These sensitivities started with stage 2, three years ago). Used to make my own hot cocoa on the stove top, that was always good.

Thanks! I love prey being trapped in a bottle or something, then directly into a mouth with no hope to escape! Oh yeah, they always make game characters drowning really unnerving, like in Mario 64.

Diversity23

You mean, all of your teeth ? Jeez, I know that renal acidosis is really insidious (due to eating at a too much rate like one piece of food per hour, hence creating more saliva who has acidic damage on teeth) o.O

What do you mean by artificial chocolate ? Like, a chocolate without any trace of cocoa or made with artificial ingredients ? Just asking by curiosity, as this isn't that known in my land. I really hope that you'll get to taste true chocolate ^^

At least, you're surrounded by digestive fluids AND bubbling cola in a tight space, not that it is better but heh ^v^

JuniperBerry

Posted by JuniperBerry 3 years ago Report

Yeah, they started falling apart in my teens, weren't worth saving. My acidosis is from being born with one kidney, and the blood disorder adds to it, not a whole lot can be done about it.

Basically chocolate that has barely any cocoa in it, or none. Milk chocolate isn't so bad, white is OK. A lot of chocolate bars have no real cocoa in them. But I know the taste well, I enjoyed various forms of chocolate before this got so much worse.

Diversity23

Yikes, it's a cruel state to live in. I hope your food sensitivities don't shackle too much your food preferences and habits :'(

Oh, I see now. I thought it was something different, nevermind ^^'. You noticed too, did you ? When sugar is the first and most prominent ingredient in any chocolate product (instead of cocoa), it's not a real chocolate bar. It happens so much nowadays that it's no wonder that some say "chocolate makes you fat" Dx

JuniperBerry

Posted by JuniperBerry 3 years ago Report

They're annoying for sure; I'm actually less than two years into the food sensitive part, long way to go. Getting used to no alcohol, sauceless pizza and pasta, and a lot more carbs and sweets. Still getting used to the new regime.

Definitely, any packaged "chocolate" isn't going to be all that real unless it states so. I go to bulk food stores a lot for spices, and used to buy dark baker's chocolate, along with the milk & white wafers.

Nothing like a refreshing vampire-cola to kill the thrist ;3

Would vampire flavoured cola be all that good? Geez, if I get caught floating in cola like this I'll probably get drank up!

Claustrophilia solidarity--I LOVE trapped in bottle scenarios ^_^

JuniperBerry

Posted by JuniperBerry 3 years ago Report

Oh cool! I'll definitely be doing more similar stuff, maybe soon. My claustrophilia's strong, but only so much you can do IRL. Actually I have another Juniper-in-a-bottle idea to do now...

Polevault

Love how she is trapped in the first and last panel, just inside a belly instead of the bottle, showing the bow falling off from the trip! From your description, keeping the bat just sitting inside a bottle for a bit, dragging that out before gulping it empty seems fun!

JuniperBerry

Thanks - being trapped means a lot for me, it's great to have a comic where I go from one prison to an even worse one! What a great doom scenario for the prey!
